When I brought Magic in earlier I picked her feet out and noticed that her near fore was warm where her off fore was cold. I rode her yesterday and she was fine and she doesn't look lame. Her hoof is warm and up to her cannon bone. I will see if it still feels warm in the morning but any ideas please?
Could be anything, she could have just tweaked it in the field or it could be something more sinister. Best to keep your eye on it and if she isn't lame and it goes away in a day or so, great. If not, probably best to get the Farrier to have a look as would suspect an abscess brewing or worse case Laminitis (sorry don't want to frighten you. Sx
As Pasha says really - could be nothing at all or could be the first indication of something more serious. I assume there's no swelling as you didn't mention any. Check it in the morning if it's still warm I'd be tempted to keep her in for the day, rather than risk her racing about in the field, and get someone to help you trot her up to check for any lameness. Then take it from there. Fingers crossed that it's nothing
Hi. Thanks for the replies. She doesn't go in a field at the moment. The horses go in a barn during the day and just mooch about. Can't see her doing anything in there. I'll see how it is in the morning and if its still warm I'll leave her in and put some arnica gel on it. I can't see it being lami as she has no grass and nothing that would have caused concussion.
