Hi Sammie, I have a partbred Arab by Kings Composer, out of my 3/4 Arab mare. King is such a lovely stallion, with a great temperament, a great choice! However my gelding didn't make as big as I thought he would, he is 5 this year & approx 15hh. His dam is 14.3hh (sire was 14.1hh ish & dam was 15.1hh ish), so there's no guarantee what size foals will make even if you do choose an allot bigger stallion!! Saying that my gelding is lovely, although looks more TB than Arab, I can e-mail you pics if you like. There is a nice Crabbet stallion in St Austell, Lufti Pasha (Silver Blue Ludo x Lusarah), he is I would say at least 15.1hh if not more, I think he stands at public stud, I can give you his owners contact details if you want.
Back to the thread my Crabbet mare is going to Winged Saint, my leased mare is going back to Indian Banner for her owner & I can't decide with my filly, possibly Milora Park Blue Fire or Raji, her foal will be to sell on & I can't decide whether to stick with a Crabbet Endurance stallion or go with a Show Stallion!! |

Hi Kastell. Thanks for that about King. Im lucky to have him a couple of miles down the road so its ideal really. I would love it if you could email some pics. I will pm you my email addy. Many thanks.
I have info on Lufti Pasha. The only thing with him is that he is closely related to angel and while I appreciate this happens with line breeding, etc, I wanted to get away from that a bit.
I have seen pics of winged saint too, excellent choice. Maybe if you normally go for crabbet might make a nice change to go for a bit of show stallion??!! |

Hi Karen I'm not too sure I've got 154/55cm in my head which is just over 15hh - 15.1hh. I tend to find the Europeans tend to be abit more realistic with their sizes than the British !! He's lovely and his babies are just exciting !! They have frozen semen available this year....and I'm not on commission !! I just like him alot |

Hi, Just a quick reminder to everyone out there looking to breed this year.PLEASE do get your breeding stock tested for CA (see sticky post)It really is easy and you get the results in apprx.2 weeks. The cost is minute compared to the real cost of loosing a foal.It really is not good enough to say "It wont happen to me,mine are fine"The link is on the original post and all the information you need.I had my filly tested even tho I do not intend to breed her this year.At least if you test it gives you the chance to make an informed decision rather than leaving it to chance. jane |
