Can anyone advise? Tallie has a small amount of mud fever on one rear fetlock and has now developed these little scabby bumps on her face, side and shoulder, only small but crusty and you can see the hairs raised. She is rugged all day and stabled in the evening so its not like rainscald or anything, has anyone seen this before?? Thanks in advance Paula
one of my mares has these, on her back. she is rugged. I think it is a very minor rain scald thing, perhaps a reaction to her sweat? its been a really wierd year with all the rain earlier in the autumn. there seems to be more mud fever about this year.
Have just noticed this post.......Khan has this on the backs of his ears and a little along one shoulder and side of neck. My vet said it is a version of mudfever/rainscald and to treat it the same way. (Which for us is to wash with Malaseb. If inflamed/oozing,then apply Fuciderm sparingly)
I wanted to put a neck cover on him thereafter but the vet said he would be better off with a wet, cold neck than a warm, damp one.
It's all this wet weather on the West Coast! Even wee Rafferty has a bit of this from being constantly soaked.
