This sounds interesting, I would like to know about how other countries/people do things. Are there riding club type competitions etc in France? What about County shows? is there a French equivalent? |

Well as far as I know there is no equivalent so how you go about qualifying is still a mystery to me French interest revolves round jumping, trotting, dressage,no county like shows Arabs come into their own in endurance randonee trec the riding tracks are fantastic and maintained well by the farmers. I live in Normandy which is known as the heart of horse country, but for showing very little, more happening in the south. Randonee is great though you have a route that you must navigate and a quiz that you must complete and trec type games about 25 kilometers but you break for the normal 2 hrs lunch break and a full 4 course meal is organised even wine included so its a very sociable day. |

hi there ! Is the lovely chestnut in your sig pics your TR Victor filly out of the Gucci mare ? If she is, the last time I saw her she was still with the mare and was just beautiful and is now absolutely magnifique ! ! Well done on posting your pics, it's good to finally see what you left England for ! Lovely house too !

Hi ,yes that's Victoriana all grown up now a real cool little character cant keep her from turning her light on but only at night time funny that and her other interest is pulling down guttering. We really enjoy the countryside here and have become twitchers now, Ken came running in a while back all hysterical not like him and there in the middle of our field with the mares was a Black Stork quite a twitchers experience. I am still having probs getting my sig pics down when I go into profile, like to see what your new house is like are you all happy Julie |

It is a bit like a dream come true for the whole family and I don't believe the horses could be happier with their lot just have to make sure they cant get to eat too many apples in autumn, so there's an invite if anybody fancies a bit of apple picking with us we usually have to do 6 to 7 tons worth so the horses can be moved back into their fields and the produce goes off to make cider and Calvados so you could do a bit of tasting too.Its the most peaceful, quite and relaxing environment. |

Well after a bit of research it appears the nearest show to us is the salon du cheval in Paris so my OH and I hot footed it there on Sunday mixed thoughts after waiting over a hour to get in whilst it was raining it dam pend our mood rather and the jostling barging public were not impressed at the wait to get in. I think it takes a remarkable temperament for a horse of any age to be on permanent display and be prodded and poked by the public and the safety aspect would worry me no end my now country bumpkins would have a cardiac arrest so there is no option there. The turn out was exceptional and our English handlers did a marvelous job but I was distressed to see many stallions traumatized by their handlers only one stallion had any confidence and personality and freedom to express itself, too much American influence I fear. |
