Anyone got a good worming programme they could share with me? At my old yard all the horses were wormed by YO and done at the same time but now i'm back at a DIY yard everyone does there own thing which isn't ideal but the fields are well looked after and not over grazed.

I make sure that any new horse coming to my yard is worm free then every 3 months do a worm count.I then worm depending on the results.
I will worm for tape and Bot know (Do this once a year)

I have just signed up for the "intellegent" worming for our yard! for an annual fee they "devise" a plan for each individual horse, based on their "worm count" and on your yards "circumstances".
Have only just done it in the last ten days - but it appears well worth the money in my opinion! |

i have worm egg counts done every 2 months then worm according to what is found,my vet does this on a health plan,i pay £12 a month direct debit and it includes all the worm egg counts, wormers, dental, flu & tetnus jabs, and full medical once a year with trot up,heart, lungs, eyes ect and blood tests, you can change what components you need to suit your budget,i know quite a few vets seem to be doing similar schemes,i dont know if this is any help to you? (it is definatly the cheapest option for me and i dont have to worry about when &what to worm for) X |

I also signed up for intelligent worming.... first egg count was "no eggs found" so I didn't need to worm... another egg count due so just off to collect some dung.... it worked out £160 for 14.3 arab and 12.3 welshie.... they are on 3.5 acres, never any other horses on grazing, rotated and poo picked daily... that price includes all egg counts and any non chemical wormer that i need.... |

Like Pauline I have a worm count done (Westgate Laboratories) and only worm on the results. Thats apart from Tapes, which I usually do in March & or October. |
