With regards to rubber matting, I realise that you get what you pay for but it seems that the 18mm is generally more than double the price of the 11mm thickness and just wondered if it really is worth it given the extra cost. 11mm to me just cant be thick enough but wondering if should try this given that my boy has never been on matting at all, is this better than nothing or just false economy??
Has anyone used the 4 x 3 pieces, do they move at all - they are still about 25kgs a piece.
if you do a search on here you will see we have had many discussion on rubber matting......the best way to use it etc ...basically 18mm was designed for shod horses, and will last years IF installed properly.
Thanks Polly - we are just about to order more rubber matting for the rather nice internal stables we are having built in one of the barns. So many different mats to choose form! We've used RM for must be the best part of the last 15 years - wouldn't be without it!!
also need to order rubber mats have used the eva ones not sure of thickness but at least an inch = 25mm ?? they're lightweight and easy to move by one person for cleaning under etc they don't move in the stable if fitted properly ie remembering to leave a small margin around the edges for when they expand/stretch over time but the thicker the better the 11mm are more suitable for horseboxes and yes prob false economy Judith have you almost finished with Chris - think it's my go of him next
I get 18mm mats at £25 each. Don't know what you pay? I wouldnt have thinner, one of my mares is a weaver and even though unshod can wear through a mat in a surprisingly short time!!
