Hi. I bought two new rugs for my foal 4 weeks ago. Both bigger than needed so there was some room for growth. Both 3'9. One was a good couple of inches bigger than the other. One light weight and one medium. I thought that seemed like a good plan. Now i did expect that she would need some more rugs before the end of winter. Act i didnt expect that after 4 weeks they would be a somewhat snug fit. She hasnt even worn them mainly because we have had nice weather for once, and also because she thinks they are big scary horse eating monsters that are going to chew her legs of if they get too close. Why oh why isnt there a loan shop for foal rugs. So anyone got a 4ft medium rug that needs a nice new home that they want to sell? Pref not to crinkly because that seems to turn them in to a two headed monster with fangs.

Sarah - try R&R - they had some when Bennie was a foal that were 20 quids each, or 2 for 30. Pink, so not very flattering for an orange baby but they're warm, Ben liked pink anyways LOL
Mine are busy growing coats now haha, so no plans to rug them this winter, they've got their big barn

Ha ha my boy has been rugged most of the summer cos of the awful weather and in a rather exposed field - consequently I've got rugs in 3 inch increments from 3ft onwards LOL Each rug lasted probably four weeks max and he's just gone into a 4ft 3 having just turned 5 months. Good job they're cheap ! It's amazing how quick they grow, bless

Great she sounds like she is on track then. (its a good job i like rugs ) Think i will just jump straight to a 4ft 3. I have to confess to been a little confused though, We got my friends foal rug out the other day. His first rug and he was 6 months old. Its a 4ft 6. This boy is now 2 and approaching 17hh quite quickly. So how does that work then? Surely the math doesnt add up. Either we have monster sized arabs or he should be shrinking anytime soon and squeezing back into a 5'9 from his current 7ft. Or maybe i just think to much:)

Could be a good idea to sell your outgrown rugs through the wanted and for sale on AL! Could help save a few pennies. My foal will need his first rug very soon and I wouldn't mind if it was second hand

My filly is five months today and she is in a 4ft 9 rug, she
is quite leggy and long. I have gone through two sizes of rugs
already. My last filly did not grow anywhere near as fast as
this one Wish i could help with rugs but my friend on yard
is using them for her colt

Rugged Charlie (rising 4 1/2 months) in another Weatherbeta foalie rug this morning - 4'3" & it fits him beautifully - for now!!! He's growing so fast! From now on - foalie sized rugs get more expensive - next suitable foalie shaped rugs are the MASTA ones - 0ver £30.00.
