Hi people Does anyone feed Bailey's No 4 ? Spider's weight has dropped off a bit and he looked at me in horror as I gave him a second feed yesterday (hes completely stuffed with grass anyway). Rang Baileys and they suggested either no 2 or no 4 and take him off the mix we have been feeding him. Hes also a bit full of himself - I'm sure you can identify with that fellow Arab owners... He often does drop some weight around coat change time and its been an exciting week - hunt met in the yard next door yesterday, way too exciting! Any advice gratefully accepted Jx

Hi, I have no experience with Baileys No. 4 but can tell you that I have been feeding Allen & Page calm & condition for 2 years now and it maintains my Anglo's weight perfectly.....and she is calm |

having tried a number of different cond. feeds for my mare i can say that calm and condition is the one thats finally doing it! and she's chilling out more too, quite a stressy mare sometimes, and she loves that it's all mushy! |

Thanks for replies. I think we may have used Calm and Condition last year - so might try that first. Bit worried about making him fizzy with the Baileys. I'll see what the feed shop are selling as this may limit my choice. Feedings a mystery to me as Spider is on full livery but my YO tells me if she thinks he needs anything out of the ordinary and this is one of those occasions - ie all the others are fat on grass and pony nuts! |

I am changing over to no4 from outshine at the moment. I have been feeding the outshine on the weight gain ration but it does have a heating effect even though it is supposed to be non heating. So i thought i would give no4 a try. None of my previous horses have liked A+P, i must say i usually stick to Baileys. |

you can continue feeding what you have been and merely add a conditioning cube [or stud cube] untill he picks up then you can continue as before

I;ve always used No 4 on my gelding as he's hard to keep the weight on, and it's never made him fizzy. |

ive tried build up and no.4 but found that calm and condition is by far the best. you dont need to feed it by the bucketload either, as with no.4 i was going through a sack a week! I get the same results with 2 cups of c&c a day. sugar beet is good too. |

I've had/taken some advice from a few people for my new arab mare who is very ribby and the fingers were pointing to No.4, so I bought my 1st bag today at luchtime. She snaffled it like a monster this evening with some alfalfa and garlic...one moment it was there, then it was gone!! The reports on it sounded good enough for me to try it though! Fingers crossed she will have more condition by the time Winter hits us in the face!

How is everyone doing on the Calm and condition, thinking of putting mine on it? A+P advised 1kg a day which makes it very cheap to feed and he gets all the required vits and mins at this level. Very aware i need to soak and will be adding chaff |

I feed both my boys ride and relax with alfa a chaff morning and night.I had fed them calm and condition for about a year before that but I felt that they were doing too well on it,chubby boys You have to soak the ride and relax too but it has less beet pulp in it and does not go as mushy as calm and condition,I would recommend either and always find allen and page helpline to be very good |

I use Top Spec Cool Condition cubes for my mare who is quite a lightweight. The nutritionist told that it has much less starch than Baileys Top Line cubes which I was using and she is rather a buzzy mare this together with Top Spec Feed Balancer seems to work well, she also has Alfa A Lite for the bulk. |

I started using Allen & Page, Calm & Condition at the beginning of this winter, first time ever and have to say it's the best thing I've ever used, first time ever my colt has finished every meal, totally calm in and out of the stable and has kept great condition unrugged. A big thumbs up from me. |

I am going to use Golden Meal which is produced by Roger Hatch at Trinity Consultants, 01243551766, as Rimmy has dropped weight this year. He has done this in the past and the Golden Meal has worked wonders. It is does not hype them up at all. |

I always used Baileys No.1 to keep weight on my old boy and it worked fine. I don't think it made him any more fizzy than anything else..... |
