With very heavy hearts we announce that our darling Huttons Ambo Chloe was PTS this morning (I admit, I bawled my eyes out for her too)
She whizzed off as we turned them out Sunday morning as usual. Sunday (late afternoon) she was lay in the wet grass and cold, unusual but thought she had a chill with tummy full of long wet grass. Vet seemed to think it was a spasm type colic as all other signs were good. Dosed her up, warmed her up and she seemed to settle, start eating again.
This morning she was restless again and by the time the vet arrived she had passed some blood and her membrane colour was poor. We elected to put her to sleep and wean the colt. She fed him and was gone, with dignity and still beautiful...

I'm so sorry, she looks like a superb mare who went with dignity and peace.
RIP lovely Chloe, your memory will live on through your gorgeous babies.

OMG.............so very very sad to hear your devastating news What an awful blow to lose a very valued Friend. She must have given you so much pleasure over the years, with all her seventeen foals. What a wonderful Brood Mare.
My heart goes out to you at such a time of sadness. Our `Queen` is now 25 years, and know that one day we have to face her leaving us for pastures new. Doesn`t bear thinking about.
Sincere sorrow and Big Hugs at this terrible time. Rest in Peace Chloe, for you richly deserve to graze evergreen pastures

What a heartbreaking decision to have to make my heart goes out to you all. What a wonderful mare she was to have left such a legacy.
