Just like to say a big thanks to the speakers and the organisers of the seminar today.
I was particularly taken with Rosemary Archers talk, what a wealth of knowledge !
Peter Upton and Hazair Alwair were fascinating too, certainly put strains into perspective
Thanks Again

What a great day out! We had a four hour drive there and back, but it was well worth it. Great speakers with amazing depth of knowledge, well organised with ample seating, protection from the rain, an excellent buffet, and fantastic entertainment from the horses over lunch, and all in a lovely setting.
There was also a very generous and unexpected raffle.
We recommend this to everybody and suggest that if you can, you come to the next seminars, as you can get a lot from them and meet old and new friends
Our thanks to everybody involved in making this such a great success.

Gosh you did come a long way but I am glad you enjoyed it - it was an excellent day and well attended. The enthusiasm of the speakers on the subject was fantastic and the wealth of knowledge truely amazing. Thanks must go to Joanne Lowe and Claverdon Stud for allowing us to hold the event there and what a treat to see some of the horses in the school during lunch. Watch out for the next seminar, we will post details on the AHS website and AL too. |

What a good turnout, thanks to everyone who came, and of course to our speakers, hosts and caterers . We learn so much from people who have been breeding, judging, writing about our breed for many more years than we all have. Peter Upton was able to put the theories of strains into perspective for us, Rosemary Archer talked about her personal knowledge of the horses and people (Lady W and Lady Yule!) who are legends in British breeding and Hazaim Alwair related the strains to his home country of Syria where they are still so central to breeding there. And thanks to the generous people who donated such wonderful raffle prizes This was a good start and the next seminar will be on the practical topic of care of mares and foals ready for the new foaling season . The AHS Membership Services Committee are keen to know what else members (and potential new members) would like in the future. |

I have to echo all that has been said. Im not into breeding at all but found all the speakers most interesting. I learned alot, not sure if I will remember all the names etc, but certainly some have stuck in my head. Thanks to all who were involved in the organisation of this event. Georgina |

Hi Becky,
I did see someone taking some video periodically, but I didnt recognise him.
I am still so overwhelmed at 5 out of 5 tickets of mine came up in the raffle, 3 of which I gave away so others could have a chance. I won both the books, one of Rosemary Archers and one of Peter Uptons and each one was signed by them, Peter personally drew a head of an arab as well as his signature! Really enjoyed the day with a wealth of information and seeing people I hadnt seen for a while. The food also was exquisite, as usual, by Jacqui Pouch and welll presented. Diane |

It was a 3 hour journey from Somerset for Judy, Marion and myself but it was well worth getting up so early to go. The horses were shocked to see me at 6.30 a.m. Thank you AHS for putting on such a great Seminar and it seems no matter how many times I have heard Peter Upton on the subject, I still keep learning at my age. As everyone has already said it was a lovely setting; great food and wine; and so nice to meet up with some of my old and new friends. It is a pity that some of the younger members do not make the effort to go to such a Seminar as eventually all the knowledge will die out with us oldies. It was good to see that two young people that I know had driven all the way from Essex to be there - and they were amazed at the slides and information they gained from the speakers that day. Thank you Joanne for allowing us to use your Stud for the day and for showing us some of your lovely horses at lunchtime with Chris and Mike doing their bit. I am looking forward to the next Seminar now. Di Ellis |

Sounds like it was a fantastic day. I would have been there myself but was competing at Barbary Castle. I'm definitely interested in any future seminars. I really should also join the AHS - keep meaning to but haven't ever got round to it, plus when I looked on the AHS website there's only a form for membership renewal, no forms for new members - or do you just use the same form? |

I'm so glad so many people got to this and learnt something new! Yes it was videoed by a friend of mine - and I have all the tapes - what now to do with them? LOL. They need editing as there was such a wealth of material as people attending will know! We need to put photos and footage of horses in so give us time and we should be able to produce something - hopefully! Hey Diane fancy winning both the books, were you born lucky??. For non members attending there was a voucher on their ticket towards membership of the AHS. The next one will be on care of mares and foals in January, time for the next breeding season - with veterinary, nutrition and stud experts. Really hope we're hitting the spot for people. It's really good for people to get together and share their interest in the Arabian horse. |

I'd be happy to buy a DVD or tapes Carolyn. I'm afraid a house move prevented me getting there but I was very keen to hear everything. Also I think it would be a very good thing to have on 'archive' for those generations mentioned by Di! |
