Just thought I'd say hi as I've finally got around to registering. I do know a few of you here already. I have two Arabs in my life, my mare Crystal Fire, who is retired, and my gelding Celebrity Psyche, who I brought last year from an AL'er. I am also owned by my ponies, a new forest pony mare called TP, and an Arab/Welsh gelding called Fin (Minchester Mikoun! He's by Sharoun Dell). Looking forward to chatting with you.

I'll have a go! This is Celebrity
I hate this of me, but it shows us having fun in the woods. The little lad on the right is Fin.
This is my girl Fire when she was 5
And of course, I can't leave out the hairy one!

Fire is 50% Crabbet, 50% Egyptian. She's out of Someone Special (The Shah/Clear Blue) and by Crystal Silver (Crystal Magician/Silver Sheen). She came to me as a foal from the lovely Anne Brown at Gadebrook. Thanks for all the nice comments, you're never sure what the reaction will be when you ride in bits of string. I do use bits as well! Although Fire was never bitted. |

Hi, welcome to AL.
There are a few of us here that welcome riding in "bits of string". I did introduce my mare to a bit but we don't need them and I love riding in my natural hackamore and bareback pad. (parelli) Great isn't it?
Lovely pics

Yes, it's liberating. I do get some straight looks when we meet other riders, but so far nobody has stopped to chat and find out more. Celeb was given a fancy riding halter as a present recently (the one in the picture doesn't really fit well enough). So now he looks very "Araby". I like them to understand the bit as well, I'm sure you know that comes into all the "natural" approaches sooner or later. I used to be a Parelli student, but these days Silversand is more in tune with how I like to do things, and I also think Tom Widdicombe is fantastic. Fancy riding halter

I like that halter. What make is it? It's a shame people don't ask questions, there is so much to learn from it.....I know that I will need to introduce the bit again at some stage but for now it isn't an issue. She was only started this year and is still very green so we have plenty of time for the refinements :-)

Oh yes, all the time in the world. The halter comes from Lodge Ropes in Australia, they will come up if you Google them. Made to measure and really quick service. They neatly, and the knots are in the right place, which isn't the case with many that are on sale in the UK. This one hasn't got too much slack under the chin, above the fiador know, so it has a correct action when being used for riding. |
