Having just received my AHS Update Newsletter, I noticed a small paragraph regarding the Anglo Working Party. There are 3 points I would like to make.
1/ The wording "the Working Party is to consider the way forward for Sect 11 A/A's in the UK" is, as usual, biased because Sect 11's don't exsist in the UK - THEY ARE PART-BREDS - so the question is not do they go forward but "do we change the constitution and create them"? The purpose of the WP surely, is to investigate whether, in fact, there is a desire or need to HAVE a section 11 at all.
2/ The list of members of the WP doesn't name a Chairman (although the Hon. Finn Guinness is the first name listed, usually denoting the 'Chair'. However I feel the chairman should be a 'neutral' and obviously Finn is the main promoter of the introduction of sect 11's and should declare a vested interest as an owner/breeder of Part-breds which would be eligible for sect 11 and this IMO should be a reason to select an alternative Chairman.
3/ For the sake of transparency, any questions/contributions to the WP should go to a neutral source ie the chairman or an unbiased third party appointed to take the minutes. Arguments over this subject in the course of the last 15yrs have become so heated that many would mis-trust the handling of input by a person on one side of the fence or the other. This would happen as it has in the past.
Please, please let's have 100% honesty and transparency.

Agree, Agree, Agree Jean. Any Member of the working Party has to be NEUTRAL and as you say, the Hon. Finn Guinness has a `vested interest` and SHOULD stand down 
How can we possibly have a fair and honest investigation if the Chair was the instigator and is favoured towards the introduction of AA11`s Come on, how can he possibly stay `in the middle` when his Part Bred Arabs would become eligible to be known as Anglo Arabs, if he sways the Working Party towards `acceptance`
No Way, is he likely to do other than recommend a change in the constitution to allow the introduction of AA11 into our Stud Book

Thanks for the support Babs,
I think everyone on the WP is going to have an opinion so I don't see this as a bar to Finn being a member but it's essential to have a chairman without a vested interest to maintain balance and fairness.
As far as I know (and I could be wrong)Peter Upton doesn't breed or own Anglos and if so his well respected and long time involvement with the AHS may make him a suitable candidate.
This is purely my opinion, as the likes of myself will have no influence on the decision, I'm sure.

As far as Sue and I are concerned, the information that we have been given is, that Peter Upton is to be the Chairman of the working party. Our first meeting has yet to be officially confirmed, but the 3rd November looks to be on the cards. Watch this space.  |

Thanks for that Lynda.....stopped me getting all hot under the collar over the Chair person issue. Methinks Peter Upton will do a good job and remain Neutral.
November 3rd. you say....certainly be keeping fingers crossed that finally, all criteria will be thoroughly investigated, fairly discussed and ALL Members fully informed.
