I wasn't going to post about her, but could not resist the 'being born' picture. Foals back legs were still in mum in that picture and I had no idea of the sex.
Her mum G.Fantastica had the worst foaling I had seen. I was all alone here and the poor mare actually screamed at one one point. She is not terribly old really but as she has given us so many beautiful foals over the years, I decided last night that this was to be her last.
Mum and baby are really well this morning, just had my vet do the tetanus jab on baby. I may not get any pictures for a while as rather busy. Pouring with rain here what a welcome into our world...wet wet wet.
I am not promoting her or Montoya, I am just so very very pleased to have a filly at last from her. We bought mum, G.Fantastica from the Gucci Sale all those years ago, she was only 2 years old. She nearly severed her foot being caught in a crush while away being inseminated once. I promised her then I would never send her away to be covered. We bought Montoya with the whole intent of getting a foal from her without the need to send her away. A very expensive venture to get one foal. But this special mare deserved every penny we spent doing so.
As you can guess we really do love her very much.
Yes we do call her Fanny
Thanks for the kind comments. |

Congratulations, so pleased you have a filly. Lucky her having all those strapping flashy big brothers! I've admired everyone of Fantastica's foals that i've seen. |

I'm glad you like her babies Sheena. We covered G.Fantastica's daughter, Fantastika (by Kubinec) this year for Pete Wainwright. So will be interesting to see how she breeds on to Montoya.
I must call this filly something beginning with 'F' but am staying away from the Fantastica bit, all gets confusing We only had colt names lined up. |
