Go for it Libby. I've had a bike license for about 15 years & do commute to work. Though not in recent months due to a knackered wrist (which has just been repaired. I hope!) OH has two classics, one of them a rigid 1940's machine which is great fun to ride or go pillion on. I must admit I'm not a lover of the very fast 'superbikes' though. Good luck! |

bit of a set back to the practical test - my jailing is in kilometers not MPH so i wont be able to do it on my own bike ,as they wont let you put an overlay on it with MPH .Be nervous enough without riding a strange bike too................... |

You'll be fine. Just relax and enjoy it, think of the freedom and the wind in your hair (mentally, obviously, not physically)! I had my mid-life crisis in 1994, watched grand National, had afternoon to kill and went out to do the CBT and booked a 5 day course.(sold 1st wedding dress to fund it). Got a GPZ500 then changed it for a Ducati Monster 600 (a great girls bike low and light. Dropped it (on a camber) and could pick it up myself. It had to go when child came along. 2nd husband turned out to be a control freak etc etc even the lure of his lovely bikes was not enough for me to stay and i LOVED the bikes of his i rode, a Laverda Montjuic 500 and a 1929 350 Sunbeam (hand gear change).
Still, have wonderful biking OH now, he has a Kawasaki ZZR1100 which I ride sometimes if we tour (classic races in Belgium are good to watch but pillion seat is not good for 300 miles a day). I have Luigi, my gorgeous Laverda 650s and on Saturday we went to Manchester to get a Thundercat (Yamaha YZF 600) more suitable for touring so I don't get numb pillion bum!
Thank goodness for mid-life crises! Biking is SUCH GOOD FUN!!! Go Libby!! |

I'm sure you know all you need to, just remember to relaaaaaaax, enjoy it, let it come naturally. If something goes a bit wrong just leave it behind and concentrate on what's ahead, not what has already been.
Just think, soon we could ride out and meet up!! |

Good luck! My OH is just about to do his DAS. He's on a Honda CG125 at the moment. I'm contemplating at least doing my CBT and inheriting the Honda when he moves onto a big beast. |

Good luck Libby - you can do it. I sat my HGV theory last year - at my great age - and passed. So a youngster like you will have no probs |

Wey-hey!! Well done you, excellent.
Oops I got all mixed up and gave you the practical pep talk for the theory part, my brain hurts! never mind, it worked.
OH and I had a nice little ride out this eve ( it's just started pouring down but was nice then) to get a few miles under my belt on the new Thundercat before we are off to Belgium in July to see the racing. Child was having tea with her dad and it wasn't raining....hasn't often happened this summer!!
Well done again. |
