Gosh plucky or what? I do admire anyone who has the guts to ride a motorbike. When I was a youngster I liked the thrill of the speed, but now I just couldn't go on the back of a motorbike. Give me a wild stallion to back any day, but ride on a motorbike - Nooooooooo...
Libby, you should talk to Kim (krb) she is a total 'huge' biker - i.e. big bikes, not big Kim! And she's a very good horse rider too - has raced, evented, team chased, dressage-d and the rest!! |

Hopefully there's always room for 'bikes and horses!! Good luck both.
There are tree golden rules of motorcycling - observation, observation and..... observation. If you know, really know, what is going on around you you won't go far wrong. |

Good luck Libby. At least motorbikes don't spook or nap and you can have more than one and they don't fight . |

What on earth are you talking about? Brakes drying out and platform boots?
Aren't horses and wild stallions much easier - and more attractive (than platform boots)? |

Libby you are one tough lady.. In my opinion you must be a strong lady too.. as i cant hold up my sons bikes as a, there to heavy b, cock my leg over as to high!!! and there only 50cc and 125cc cpi and aprillia.. Hes planning on a 600cc but will have to have it restricted.. He would love you as nobody in our family knows anything about bikes rides or likes them.. His mates dad is planning on taking j and his mate touring across europe if they pass for 3 weeks September. Once again good luck. |

i love them .Been pillion for along time now and been (quite happy) going up and down the UK to France Belgium and Scotland on the back, then back to Cornwall, then i decided i wanted to learn in my own right.Id allways had this love of GSXR's going back to 97 and first seeing one at the weston super mare beach races. When i fisrt got my 125 it used to reduce me to tears- i cant move this! i cant get it onto its main stand ,its too heavy!! But its easy once you get the hang of it,i thought to myself if our friends wife whos 5ft 1 and tiny can get her husbands BMW on its main stand THEN I CAN DO MINE!!! I move it easily around now,i arrived at work the other day and all these workman were watching me to see if i make a boo boo (obviously female long blonde plait!) And i parked up easily and stepped off because its really familiar ,as if to say ha ha ha!!! |

Good luck and you have my utmost admiration. OH has a bike (not sure what breed it is but Kawasaki ZX something or other) - the thought of going on it fills my wellies with the brown stuff. He does bikes, I do horses, never the twain shall meet. Keeps hinting that he might trade it in for something more sedate so that I can get on the back of it - yeah right, in your dreams bonny lad. Anyway, don't think they make seats big enough for my arse.
Good luck and fingers crossed for you. Very brave. |

oooh good luck
My hubby has a bike, suzuki sv1000. We often go for a ride out but I don't find it very comfortable. He is now looking for something a bit more wife friendly. I love the Goldwings, armchair seats! but I think I will have to settle for a sports tourer. After all, he still has his image to keep

When i first met Chris 12 years ago he only had the GPZ600 and for years i pillioned on that but it is unsuitable for long distances so we bought the Bandit 600 and thats what we did all our touring on.Ive been so comfortable on that ive been fighting off sleep!!!!!!!! My husb is an excellent rider with superb visual awareness,so even when he gets fed up and puts his foot down so to speak ive rarely been scared i love it!!! I think ALL my life since i was a baby ive ridden horses etc etc and just fancy a change, and a new challenge, though (back to original topic) i passed the hazard perception on DVD whilst talking on the phone at same time, so cracked that!! |

(had it lowered since!!) |

a few years ago they the bike paramedics started at our station... so yes, first thought was - i want some of that! obviously me being 5 foot 2 the lads took the mikey saying they don't do child size bikes.... whilst nobody was looking i decided to hope on one - huge mistake!! I set off the alarm, which then set off three other bike alarms... the lads ran out to protect their precious bikes to find me pearched on top! all i could think to say was "see i CAN touch the floor"... someone shouts "yea, but with both feet!" but no.... kirsty was not happy to accept defeat! so they challenged me to pick one up... one lad laid it on the floor and told me to get it back up right.... i tried so hard but could I manage it - not on your nelly ... out walks kirsty in a huff saying "bunch of gits"
I still reckon that if i wanted to go on the bike team they would have to custom make me one! the police have to! maybe i'll pass my test and start some trouble with the bike boys then once i win i'll change my mind!! |
