I had a really nice decent honest master saddler out today...
After all the problems with Raz's back, I started to bring him back into work slowly, eventually started riding... Raz than started to play up out hacking again....
So I needed to get his saddle checked....
Honestly, I really thought she'd say, "no, terrible fit, new saddle"
but no.... she said she would love to try and sell me a new saddle but my one was a perfect fit, the saddle would not be causing any pain to create a tantrum .... how honest, decent and professional is that!!
So thats it... the boy will be working, he can't give me any excuses now... I'm gonna ride my pony at last!!!

Great - think we should all have her name! (Advertising it might be of course, but it would do us all, and our horses, a favour!) |

Either that or she thought holy Moly I will never get a saddle to fit that riders arse.....
That is just a joke Kirsty (whom I love dearly).... Just whip the bugger he will move forward eventually providing you can sit the bucks...... another joke... We need a little light banter here occasionally..... after all she is the Carpet Tunnelling kwwweeerne...
Love ya Kirst...... and ride your boy with pride and determination.
Paul xXx probably an ex friend of you...... |

oh paul you make me giggle!!!! and whips and bucks should be reserved for privacy - not for my equine we don't do whips! ....but my bottom has got quite LARDY since i've been off work - to much comfort drinking!!!
I'd be happy to name her roseanne - if I'm allowed... I really was so grateful for her honesty.... we all know people that would have bent the truth to earn a few bucks..... so this lady was a refreshing change... and she has a huge customer base - mostly by word of mouth! |

Go on - name her, if you are local to me you may be using the same saddler as mine did exactly the same when I was having problems with Spooks.
Better then the lady I phoned who wouldn't entertain the idea of checking the fit of my synthetic saddle - but (in her words) 'would sell me a decent saddle - my prices start from about £900' (Yeah right...whatever dear!!) |

She lives a few roads from me.... in hampshire.... I know she gets about abit, but don't know if she'll go to devon for a saddle check/fit! lol how rude not to check a synthetic saddle - surely her main job is to check the saddle fits correctly, regardless of what is made of - for the horses wellbeing!!! silly woman! |

Good news Kirsty. It's great to have that peace of mind.
My saddler is a lil ole guy, much the same as yours. I bought a cheap second hand leather one years ago (£60) and was convinced I had made a complete hash up. I rang him and asked him to bring a selection that might fit. Bless him, he said that it fitted as well as anything he could sell me, just needed re-flocking!!! Needless to say, he is a regular at our yard. |
