Hi everyone, sorry to start another thread but am interested in knowing a little bit about my new boys bloodlines. He is a Palomino gelding, registered part bred with AHS, he is 62.49% Arab. His name is Ballymaginthy Easternwind. His dam is Colebridge Fairy Rose (Kharif Morning Star/Colebridge Samantha) and his sire is Broomriddings Gabriel (Fayrelands Dancing Magic/Midoak Foxy Lady). I have only recently bought him and he is is such a sweetie. I already have a Pally mare, Connemare x Tb, and couldn't resist another! When I learn how to put pics up I will post some. If anyone knows anything about him or his breeding, I would love to know.
Many thanks Liza xx

Hi there,
Your lad is a relative of mine on the sire's side! My lad is by Fayrelands Dancing Magic x Zyda Golden Folly. So I guess that would make him a sort of cousin!!!
Dancing Magic sadly died a couple of years ago, but was a wonderful sire and had the most amazing nature. My own boy is a lovely horse and full of character. I'd love to see some piccies of your two! |

Hi Liza
I used to have Gabriels full sister Broomriddings Arabella (also palomino). She was absolutely stunning. I did endurance riding with her for a while. She then went on to do western riding and is now in Holland being a mum! She will be about 16/17 now and stands at around 15hh. She had a fantastic personality too - really sweet mare.
I'll try to get some photos on here....also trying to figure out how to post pictures.

Hi there, Thank you both so much for the replies. I am going to take some pictures this weekend of my boy (Sami) and the girls. Sami is two years old next week and he is 15.2 now, I have no idea of the size of his Sire and Dam but was told he would make 15.2, hope he doesn't grow much more as I am only 5'6 and 15 something.. is big enough for me..lol. I don't know anything about bloodlines but am interested to know which line carried the Arab, or is it both? and what else is he 'mixed' with?

Hi Liza,
If you look on All Breed Pedigree I have listed your boy with all his bloodlines and generations. There are blanks sadly as the Colebridge breeding isn't flagging up any other horses.
He carries a lot of Crabbet arab blood from both sides of his pedigree. I'm not sure about the Colebridge prefix though and what breeding that is?! There will be others on here though that are very knowledgable and they'll be able to help you more.
Good luck researching, it is great fun. I really enjoyed looking through my horses history and bloodlines. If you have a look at my boy Zyda Golden Shalal, you'll see the similar blood coming through on your lad.

Thanks Joto, that would be great. I hadn't realised the Stud had been disbanded.

Hi Liza
My boy was terrible when seeing the farrier as he hates the smoke when being hot shod. What worked for me was as soon as he started misbehaving I made him walk back then forward, back then forward after a few times doing this (or many depending on your boy)they soon decide its easier to stand than be made to walk backwards and forwards. I hate the fact that professionals ie Farriers, Vets think that sedation is the answer to everything, in my mind hiding the issues will never resolve them. This also worked when Tor wouldnt pick up his offside front without trying to lash out or pull away, as far as we could tell there was no reason for it. so i would pick up his foot and as soon as he tried to kick out I dropped his foot and made him walk back and forward we kept doing this until he stopped. It worked a treat. A year on and he is a pleasure to handle.

Hiya I own Colebridge Venture who is a chestnut gelding bred by my friend Janet Lucas who founded the Colebridge Stud. Colebridge Samantha was bred by her and is by the late standing stallion Chestnuts Golden Miracle. His stock gained him an award from the old Ponies of Britain who placed him in the top six sire ratings at Ponies of Britain shows.Sadly he died in 1993 at the age of 22. The stud is now closed down as Janet has now retired. However her stock still win many awards and her lines are carried on through other breeders.Your horse has performance in its breeding as Colebridge Red Fox, also by Chestnuts Golden Miracle, represented Britain in endurance!I have a photo of Chestnuts Golden Miracle but no idea of how to scan it!!! I also have a history of the Colebridge Stud so if you need more information let me know.... |

Hi Linda Nice to see you joining the forum... Not sure if you remember me, but I used to come to the shows with Fay who had Colebridge Aries and Colebridge Jubilee....I showed my PBArab. You used to own Valentine?? if I am right. I also see Tracey alot who had the cremello mare Colebridge Honeymoon. She has now got a dun mare by Colebridge Silver Phantom. Janet bred alot of very nice horses and I used to keep saying that one day I would have a palomino as I passed by her place every day. My cremello has just given me a beautiful palomino filly yesterday morning - her first baby - so am absolutely over the moon. I dont normally do gushing, but she is fabulous.

Hullo there
I bred Broomriddings Gabriel and Broomriddings Arabella. I bought Midoak Foxy Lady (Sadie) at 10 months old out of Horse and Hound from a girl who had bought her from her breeder. I showed Sadie in hand as a youngster. She did very well including two first prizes at the National Championships in Malvern. She then visited Fayrelands Dancing Magic (owned by Tony Hassell of Holmesfield, Sheffield) and produced Arabella. Bella also did well showing as a youngster including a first prize at the National Championships. As I did not ride much in those days I advertised Bella for sale locally and she was sold to a girl near Belper/Derby way (think it was). The girl's mother begged me to sell Sadie as she had seen a lot of her and loved her. Sadie was not an easy horse as she had suffered from laminitis, needed careful management and was inclined to weave. However off she went. A few weeks later her new owner wanted to return her but I had no room for her and I lost touch with both Sadie's new owner and Bellas new owner. I was delighted a few years ago to receive a letter from a new Owner of Bellas. I think this may have been Katie. She enclosed a few photos of them doing endurance riding. Bella was absolutely stunning. Her one fault was that she tended to box walk and make a mess.
Broomriddings Gabriel was the most elegant and beautiful foal. He has called Gabriel because he was just heavenly. He was HUGE when he was born and damaged the mare internally but she was OK after a vet visit. Pure cream with the most beautiful blue eyes and a wonderful temperament. He had problems as a foal as he developed a club foot. My farrier had three in the area and Gabriel was the only one to become one hundred per cent correct and indeed survive. The farrier's apprentice did a project on him.Not much use for showing as cremellos are (or where) disliked and I advertised him for sale when he was a yearling. A teenage girl loved him, arranged to have him castrated and arranged transport. However there was no way that Gabriel would go in the trailer and in the end the girl never came back to me and indeed even had the cheek to keep the video I gave her of his birth.
I had actually booked an appointment then myself to have Gabriel castrated when Lynn Hassell phoned to see if I still had him for sale. Lynn is the ex husband of Tony Hassell who owned Dancing Magic. Lynn and her new partner Eamon who lived out in the peak district managed to persuade Gabriel into the trailer. I have heard little of him since except I did once see Lynn and she told me that Gabriel had the nicest temperament of any stallion she had known and that he had turned into a stunning little horse. Would love to see any grown up pictures of him.
Well I hope the above is of interest. Please contact if you wish to know more. |
