Hi
Here is a recent picture of the family - from left to right is Indie (being kept by me!), Tilly (being kept by my eldest daughter!) Gizmo (the proud Dad!), Bruiser (the only boy, being kept by my youngest daughter!) and Taylor (the proud Mum!). The fourth puppy Mimi was sold to a lovely family for their daughter - so I did make a little bit of money in the end!!!!!!
As you can see they're all very different and Bruiser has the longest legs I have ever seen on either a Chihuahua or Jack Russell!!!

Yup they're cute but tell me Parthanay, why did you breed them?An accident? Then you were irresponsible and should neuter mum (and babies as soon as they are old enough)as it's already proven that your household can't manage an entire bitch without accidents.I' m hoping it wasn't for the money, there's a name for people that do that and it's not nice.ALL rescue dogs trace their origins or ancestry to exactly these situations.I hope you made it clear to Mimi's purchaser that she's to be neutered at 6months and that you'll be following up to make sure it's done AND that the home is as good as you think it is? |

Harsh yes.Rude no.l spend my life picking up the pieces when things go wrong-and they do!-for little cuties like these. This kind of breeding l consider totally unacceptable and is directly responsible for the sights l saw yesterday in Ashton Pound. |

They are lovely Pat and you have obviously thought long and hard about the future for all of them. I hope that they are all very happy and will undoubtedly be much loved in their new homes !

I'm in the middle of neutering 17 dogs.(even at just ?14 each that mounts up to quite a vet bill!)Heidi came in pregnant and had an abortion.Laura,Jessie Mary and Bridget were in season and it was MURDER keeping them 'intact' until it was safe for their ops.Ziggy has very recently had pups, whereabouts unknown as she was abandoned.Shadow came in with her pups on her and had to wait till they were weaned.I was at the vet with 2 dogs every day last week and will be there 4 days next week.Shad is a purebrf whippet and a very beautiful one, heaven knows what the sire of her pups is.She's only about 15mths old.Cookie is a 5yr old Yor Chi.She's had 7 litters. One of her sons was on the rescue site a few weeks ago. He'd been dumped then hit by a car.He was found rake thin and near death as his injuries had putrified. He's lost a leg.NOW tell me l should jump for joy at the news that yet another litter of cute mongrels has been brought into the world.JUST WHAT IT NEEDED! I'll just step off my soapbox now.. |

Ashton is the Dublin dog pound. The strays abandoned and plain unwanted dogs of Dublin are taken there.IF THEY'RE LUCKY.They get 5 days to be claimed,if not they're pts.Surrendered dogs, that's the ones brought in by their owners can be pts straight away and often are if the pound is full which it often is.The staff do their best and cooperate very actively with the rescues but even the rescues have to pay to get dogs released from pounds. They are not sanctuaries, they are run by councils who don't give a toss. The kennels are 4'x6' with a small (20x20')yard in front,a 6' corridor in front of that then the 'public viewing area'This is in a building with a long window which gives a partial view of the kennels and is as close as you are allowed to get until you chose a dog to be brought out to you.You can't see them all unless they're standing at the kennel windows though you can see the ones in the exercise yard if you wait for them to move fr6 behind the wall that obscures 3/4 of it.Profoundly depressing place.Lots of cuties there. The homing rate-including those taken into rescue-is around 20%That means 4 out of 5 of those cuties l saw shivering in their cold metal kennels yesterday will be destroyed. |

Have to agree with Cass,if people had to sit with dogs being PTS just because there are no homes for them yet more and more "designer mongrels" are being bred then i dont think people would breed them. Totally breaks your heart to see them being killed every day and Cass is on the frontline day in day out,i only help out with rescue dogs when i have the time to do so. |

We were offered a Doberman rescue bitch some years ago, she was 6 years old and a hat full of problems. My lovely friend delivered her to my door knowing I would not give up on her. This poor dog had an eating disorder, she ate everything going tins an all We kept her and loved her, sadly she just stopped eating one day and we found her curled up in her chair dead.
What was so heartbreaking to me was the fact that the dog rescue had two Dobermanns, her brother had lived with her all her life and they failed to tell me she had a lifelong brother and friend. They were worried I wouldn't take on two big dogs....I have never forgiven them for splitting them up. We always used to go to the Blue Cross to select a dog, having found my mum a poodle called Rocky, who we also inheritied due to her death.
I know it is tough to re-home these poor devils but some rescue homing centres do not always tell the truth. Even Rocky was a monkey, he bit everyone in sight, but my mum loved him so much. He would never ever have been allowed back to the Blue CrossI loved him too. He is buried under our Magnolia Tree
I see in our local paper a lot more first cross puppies being offered for sale. I wonder why they are becoming so popular does anyone know? My dog is a first cross, so unfortunately Cass he is among the ranks of being a mongrel I agree he should not have been bred, but he was and I am the very lucky person who bought him.
You obviously do a brilliant job of caring for all these dogs, wouldn't it be better to advise those in Dublin to cut the bits off their dogs and neuter the bitches. In this country, according to our local newspaper, we have a huge problem of people dumping old dogs and even pedigree puppies after Xmas. It seems no difference to the value paid for a puppy.
Poor mites poop on the carpet and they soon become a tiresome toy. Sorry, I could go on too. At least Pat has kept and loved her pups.
Cass, are you the Cass that used to post on here a few years ago, |

No blame to anyone Sue for OWNING one,its the breeding of any dogs without very good reasons and full responsibility being taken that l take exception to.IF YOU'RE RESPONSIBLE FOR IT BEING BORN YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR IT FOR THE REST OF ITS LIFE!That goes for stud owners as well as the owner of the bitch.Wish that was a law...I suspect the trend for 1st crosses is because people want 'posh' dogs but don't want to buy into the hereditary problems ALL pedigree breeds have.I'm NOT saying all purebred dogs are sickly, that's just not true but it does take time effort and research to find a good breeder with healthy bloodlines. There's nothing wrong with mongrels. It's a shame the word has such negative connatations - generally they're healthy emotionally stable and the unsung stars in the canine fundament! The only problem with them is that as pups it's difficult to predict how they'll look as adults and sometimes even how big they'll grow.Another plus for 1st crosses. And although the potential for hereditary probs is still there in a 1st cross it is minimised by the complete outcross nature of it's parentage, that tends to put probs on the recessive gene so it won't surface for a generation or two. |

Cass,
It was not a planned breeding but all of us are delighted with the puppies - which is why three of them will stay with us forever. Mimi went to a lovely home where she is really loved and we have frequent updates on her progress. Gizmo has been neutered about three weeks ago - not to stop this sort of thing happening again but for medical reasons as he had a retained testicle and the vets advised us that this could be dangerous for his health.
I can see why you feel so strongly about crossbred puppies being bred simply to make money if you see the fallout of this on a daily basis but I can assure you that that was never the case with us.
I only posted this picture as some people showed an interest when I originally posted about them to see what they would look like when they had grown up abit - am beginning to wish I hadn't - what is it about some people who hi-jack perfectly innocent threads to get on their soapboxes and preach!!!!!

Hi Pat, i would ignore what certain other people have to say, as they do not know you are and the circumstances!! how can they have the cheek to judge what you do and what sort of person you are, i think they are delightful and im sure that they are well look after. take care.

I didn't think you bred them for money and l'm not surprised you regret opening the thread!I also believe that you love them and are taking care of them.Retained testicles are prone to cancer and are hereditary. All animals carrying hereditary defects should be removed from the gene pool. That means his pups too.If whoever had owned his onenutted ancestor had done that YOU wouldn't have ended up with a monorchid dog.I disagree about the 'innocence' of the subject though-rather strongly as you might have guessed!I actually ASKED you WHY they were bred,I actually didn't accuse you of farming or anything else.I did put forward my opinion of various scenarios bv without knowing you could not say which ie either fit. Gossy has one of the pups? One of you hasn't taken a close look underneath as it seems there's a disparity of opinion as to its gender. Gossy your transparent hostility (which as we've never met has to have been founded on there being a friend of mine you don't like-who I hear you've also never met but have heard about from the adulterous partner of her ex husband.Hardly what l'd call a reliable source!I don't think much of a couple of your friends either but don't see that as a reason to attack you!) does you no credit. You on the wine again tonight? |

Please leave Gossy out of this - no, she does not have one of the puppies and I cannot see what you are on about regarding her - all she did is reply to MY thread telling me to ignore comments like YOURS.
Seems to me that you are the one who has been on the wine tonight - why don't you just go to bed .................. |
