there is a campaign at the moment to ban snares in scotland, which i fully support. although of particular interest to those of us in scotland, it is hoped a ban here would also influence the uk parliament so it is important for everyone who cares about animals. there is a really good web site with options to click to help the campaign, whether you are in scotland or outside. please take a look----it is well laid out so that you don't have to look at horrible images unless you go to that section----so lots of info and no distressing sights if you don't click "images".

thanks for looking

I have to agree with you here, snares are evil and barbaric, and here speaks someone who eats game, and whose family shoot both game and vermin.
Snares are vile, what an awful slow and painful death.
Signed. Nicky |

Haven't been able to view it yet (computer playing up!).
Back in the late 70s I was staying with friends in the Forest of Dean & was out walking their Lab dog on open common land & he got his leg trapped in a snare - I had a devil of a job to free him - thankfully he was OK!!! I hate to think what could have happened if I hadn't been close to him! |

Signed. Here's hoping for a positive result to rid our country of this medieval animal torture. A few weeks ago (probably before Xmas) there was a case on our local TV news of a cat which had been caught in a trap (not actually sure if it was a snare but it was a trap of some description) and had managed to get itself out of the trap but did lose one of its hind leg in the process. Poor thing had managed to drag itself home but can you imagine the poor owners finding it like that - doesn't bear thinking about. Happily, it has survived and is managing brilliantly on 3 legs. |
