Well at least it didn't rain. Today we woke up at the crack of dawn because we were moving our herd of five two miles down the road to the beautiful stables at Towneley Park in Burnley. We were assisted by the wonderful Clair (HoneyB) and all the ponies are loving it! We are all really tired out but are looking forward to the lovely stables and great riding. We walked them all down the two ponies in hand and the others ridden and arrived in one piece. The two ponies hadn't been off our farm for two years so there were some sticky moments. I will write again tomorrow, thanks again to Clair!
Twas the day for it - we moved out 'herd' of broodies, holidaying ridden horses and 3yo's to their proper winter lodging - large field that doesn't get muddy and a yard in the sheltered woods attached. 8 bales of haylage and lots of feeding stations. 2 water tanks, salt blocks etc and all happy horses til Spring. It's an 'easy' move for us - just involves blocking the private lane and letting them across it... but there are 20 of them and they know they are going... bless them - they form a queue and the braver ones assist a wary one each and away they go... mud and hooves and be-rugged bodies dropping to roll on the new field... they luv it!! Sure yours will have much fun exploring and finding favourite snoozing spots that catch the sun... and you get to explore new riding too :)

Today, Sunday woke up raring to go see how our ponies liked the brand new stables. they had all eaten up and drank and were all looking chilled out and dead posh!!! Sadie the 26 yeaar old looked like royalty in her huge stable, newly whitewashed with a large golden straw bed. Lots of vistitors to admire her and marvel at her age. Later on she happily gave Isobel (aged 1) rides around her stable in between mouthfuls of her haylage. The two arabs and Sam went out for an hour whilst I mucked out and rolled and rolled and came in bright eyed. It was just a pity it rained all day I would have loved to take Isobel's pony Tilly for a walk round the lovely park land. The only drawback seems to be the long walk to the muck heap and the steep climb to the top, still it can be my fitness program to help me lose weight. Bye for now. Alice.
