We have taken in a weimeraner 14 month male as lady is due a baby in a few week and she feels he is so playful and may jump up at baby
This one does not bite, sits, ;lays down, comes back off lead, good with horses and dogs but im not sure if we can keep him long term as he is huge (we took him to help out as really struggling and closer to birth of child)
Anyways can anyone tell me about this breed and if anyone may be int in having him we will gift him to a good home but we are east yorks, he is fully jabbed ect but although pedigree not papered, v friendly big bouncy dog but long term not sure we can keep him though couldnt see friend struggle
Angienjohn@hotmail.co.uk we are East Yorks

I have always wanted one, but never in a position to have one! Those big ears - I love them!
They can be boisterous and require quite some stimulation. They are gun dogs/pointers so treat them like you would a spaniel - plenty of exercise etc. If it were to be left alone all day, then it may resort to destruction!
There are plenty of Weimeraner rescue websites that can give you advice on the breed. Or if you go to the Kennel Club website, you can look them up on there. It will give you breed characteristics etc.
Good luck with whatever you decide - wish I could have him!

Please be careful - in my (admittedly limited) experience, Weimeraners are vicious, aggressive dogs who don't hesitate to go for all and sundry. I'm amazed this one does not bite - perhaps it's the one nice example of the breed that has so far eluded me. And I am very fond of German Shorthaireed Pointers - because they look so alike I always though Ws would be nice friendly dogs too... but no. |

I think they are known as "the Ghost" dogs! Very devoted to their owner, guarding him/family? |

Never had one but from what I know they are meant to be a working dog and need lots of exercise and structure. Everyone I have met has been very friendly and playful but as a breed they do suffer BADLY with separation anxiety. A pal has taken on a juvenile and he has EATEN her car interior!!! yours sounds well adjusted so I am sure breed rescue centres will have people waiting for him... good luck with your big rubbery dog :) |

they are lovely dogs (as are all breeds when treated and trained in the correct way) i look after 2, one very old man who is the sweetest thing on earth, and one 2yo rescue one who has no manners but was shut up i n a puppy crate for the first 18months of his life. he'slovely too though very boisterous! and eats everything, including furniture, tea towels, air freshners etc. they are quite big and theor tails are great at breaking things/knocking things over, even when docked! |

This boy has so far with me travelled in car too big for my new 207 (the alarms go off he is heavy saying seatbelt lol), ran loose with horses, dogs and sheep, he stops kitchen eve and does whatever in day nd has so far never stolen food or chewed but he craves to be at your feet 24/7 so ideally a home with someone who is with him a lot would suit him |

Until just before XMas we had 2, sadly our old girl is now gone but the 18 month old we have is fab. I can't agree they're vicious!!!! Our were both rescues, one had had 7 homes in 2years, not that well treated and was the loveliestdog we ever had |

I know 5 in total all owned by different friends, all beautifully behaved and good natured dogs. One is quite highly strung and she gets upset when left alone for long periods but is happy to travel in car and stays overnight with her owner in dog friendly hotels.
They are all pretty lively dogs so need plenty of excercise and love the water(like my stinky labs).
Every one of these dogs is great with other dogs and children.

Thanks he is v friendly if a little to friendly as in everyone and everything will be his best friend, we are a small dog couple and as much as he is lovely we took him in to help out and he needs a home where he can be with people a lot (much too big to go on tractor and in car with terrier who does this all day long and loves it)he is free to loving home though we do not have pedigree papers we do have vet papers showing his jabs ect |

I am working with Cassy to find this dog a good home.
They are not a vicious breed naturally ( Generally owners that make any dog vicioius ! ) But they are very devoted, and do not do well being left for hours, They are a very rewarding breed, but to take a lot of work, exercise etc etc. Best suited to a horsey home, or shooting home,. Cassy and I will find the right home for this well behaved loving dog ( and ive seen a picture very handsome too ! )

Weimaraners are wonderful, gentle, loyal, playful and VERY energetic dogs! We lost our old girl about a year ago and she was amazing. We got her as a puppy when our daughter was just 6 weeks old ....no problems at all.
They belong to the HPR section (Hunt, Point and Retrieve) and their senses are incredibly sharp. They need absolutely tons of exercise and stimulation but will reward you no end.
In my opinion, any Weimaraner which has shown vicious or nasty tendancies is as a result of a bad upbringing. It is not in their nature.
Our old girl only slowed down (in every sense) about a year before we lost her! So, if you plan to get one, make sure you have the energy to match!! Michelle

Hi there - A great friend of ours is a policeman and I have asked him to ask around his colleagues to see if anyone would be interested in providing a perm home for lovely buddy. they'd certainly know how to look after him and what to expect. (Had the email from Cazza - thank)

I'll also ask around - what a shame my boyfriends parents have only just bought a weimerana puppy - he's an absolute star!! My best friend also had one ... unfortunately due to age he passed away a few months ago. I'd def recommend one. |
