Well today Sam and I took the boys on a hack. Please note she was riding Tayf as decided to see if he likes muddy puddles and scarey bridges and she is the professional after all. Well we learned that he doesn't like muddy puddles. Decided not to stress him over the puddles as the scarey bridge was yet to come. He will love muddy puddle given time. Now I know what he does when he is faced with them. and as for scarey bridges - he is now cured. Well cured today. Who knows about tomorrow. All is good in the world of Tayf, Musjid and Pixie. Clapping hands and saying a small thank you prayer to the God of Finding me a nice horsey. |

Don't worry Pixie, when we eventually come up to see your two lovely boys, we will use Warren's super-duper, new-fandangled, ultra-modern camera to take some flattering pics of the duo to share (if we can prise the camera from Warren's super-human grasp) I am happy to post them for you too.
God probably had a hand to play in your finding the right boy, but I sincerely think your patience and determination really paid off!!! So, so glad all is well in the world of Pixie, Musjid and Tayf

Thanking you muchly Tahir 'tis most kind of you and of course Warren.
Today we did puddles. Not muddy ones. But big puddles on the road. Myself riding and Sam riding Musjid. OK so he tried to skip round them but he did eventually go through two. Yay. Musjid on the other hand who loves water and was probably a fish in a previous life just ploughed through them as per normal. |

So glad to hear all is going well in Pixieland. LOL about the puddles. My old boy would scale a hedge/tree/anything to avoid getting his feet wet and would even help to remove my kneecaps in the process. New boy is fine - puddle, what puddle. Does fords and everything. Good boy. Well done Tayf (and you of course). |

Blimey it was windy today...... and blimey he was sharp......but...... sharp but not going anywhere. Its perculiar. It feels like he is going to spook. Wiggles one way feels the leg wiggles back the other way and goes nowhere. Musjid on the other hand wooshes and spins. I am so programmed to push Musjid up to the bridle and slightly more with the left leg and squeeze the right rein when I feel it coming that today that is what I was doing on Tayf. Poor boy. After about a mile I managed to get a grip of myself. Sam kept laughing at me. How can a horse spook but not go anywhere. Its lovely I'm not complaining but its so not what I am used to. Good boy Tayf. |

Pixie, persevere with the puddles. Jema wouldn't do water so I made her go through one every time I turned her out and gave her a carrot. It's paid off as we did a 4 hour hack last week and she followed the others through a knee deep puddle and was really good. She still plays up if there's an alternative route, but there wasn't ha ha!!!Tayf looks lovely. I saw the picture had been added before I know you'd bought him, but I thought they were both of Musjid. (getting old and blind and the brain's packing up!!) Have fun with your two lovely horses. |

well it wont be long before the whole world is one big puddle at this rate of rainfall so he wont have a choiceas extra encouragement I can honestly say that young Squeaky (Star/Pratsalina - well not so much Pratsalina now!) had a giant hissy fit every time she saw anything even remotely resembling a puddle at the beginning of the year and today she was happily stanking through the sea (which was in NO way calm) - big crashing waves all around her - couldnt care lessAND she goes through giant muddy puddles/piddles(couldnt resist that one)of massive proportions without a second thought. familiarity breeds contempt I say - the whole world is a continuous puddle/piddle aaarghxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

Thanks Moosie......
Yesterday my friend had a horse vetted 15.2 Bay TB gelding called Freddy. Yay it passed. Hasn't been looking for quite as long as me but I went with him on Sunday (I think) seems a nice little horse. Quiet and willing - may be a little lazy - but he doesn't want another fizzy horse. So onwards and upwards..... |

Re puddles. Both my arabs (both advanced endurance horses) hates puddles and will do anything to avoid putting even a toe in them. Very amusing when leading them to our fields at the moment. We have to go through three gateways and all three gateways have large puddles in them. Muggins here has to step right into the puddles to open the gate whilst both boys stand right at the end of their leadropes, noses out stretched so they are stood just on the edge of said puddles. Once gate is open they each tiptoe right round the edge of the puddle pulling faces at me. I swear if they could climb on my shoulders and get a piggy back they would.
When riding they both prefer to avoid puddles and most of the time I let them - bad I know. It's different when we're out competing - both seem to get into the 'zone' and splash through without issue (well without much of an issue!). |

Tara doesn't like puddles much and tries to jump them whenever possible!! I remember one ride with my friend on her TB and it had been raining all day, we went down this track which had these massive two foot wide puddles, loads and loads of them and you couldn't get round them as they covered the whole track, we set off into canter and she hurdled them all, like a hurdle racer!!!
I am glad to hear you're having fun with Tayf Pixie!! |

Had our first canter out today. Not very far just a few steps (maybe 15 or 20) then back into trot. Good Boy.
Then took my old boy on the same hack. Did the same canter. I'm such a saddo!
Have had a lovely day with them both. Such good boys. I am very happy. |

Sometimes mine will dodge a puddle specially if the sun is shinning on them.. not to often recently!! Unyet they all plough through the fords around us and sometimes you feel you have to keep your leg on as am sure they might attempt going down for a roll or soak!! Glad things are coming together its a lovely fun read your thread..

Oh Kate he is lovely. Took some more photos today. No way I can post them Just not clever enough. Think he may be related to Tobago somehow from what I have been told. Mind you might be wrong. Anyone want to volunteer to post the photos?
He sloshed through another load of puddles today. So much more confidently. Yee ha.
Only walked and trotted a little today. Have got my seat in walk and trot. Its the transitions I get a bit bounced out the saddle. Still he doesn't seem to mind.
Followed me round the field today when I was poo picking. Ah ha..... me thinks he is starting to like me. |
