Just a quick querie to all the Palomino fans!

Do any ALiners have any offspring from this marriage? I've just bought my gelding and would love to know if he has any brothers and sisters?

Hi Qui Gon Jinn
I have just been going through a laborious task of inputting loads of palominos on to Allbreedpedigree.com from the BPS magazines. There are now 2 listed offspring from this pairing:

Zyda Golden Shalal - who is for sale on the BPS website (unless he is the one you have recently bought?)
and Zyda Golden Chardonnay

Fayrelands Dancing Magic was one of my favourite stallions. He was gorgeous - did you ever see him or any pictures of him. I have some if you are interested. I have his half sister Fayrelands Hawaiian Dawn.

Good luck with your new boy.

Hi Debbie,

I have just bought Zyda Golden Shalal! I'd love to see pictures of his dad. I understand he died back in 2004 or 2005. I'd also like to see shots of your mare too.

Well done you for inputting all the info onto All Breeds. I did think it odd that I found Hal's details on there.

You can email me if you like jaynedge@aol.com

Thanks
Jayne

Hi Jayne
Here is the picture of Dancer (Fayrelands Dancing Magic)in 1995 when he was British National Champion . I thought it was 2006 that they lost him but time does fly so it could have been 2005.

He was a beautiful boy. I did see one of his younger full sisters when I was lucky enough to visit the Fayrelands Stud. I think that was Dancing Tiara but there were three other sisters Dancing Debutante, Dancing Diamond and Dancing Sun.

This is my old lady Fayrelands Hawaiian Dawn. She is fab.

... and this is Quadeha who was the sire of Dancer, so is Shalal's grandad.

I hope you have many happy years with Shalal. If he is even half as good as any of the Fayrelands horses I have known you will never regret buying him.
Best wishes
Debbie

Hi Debbie,

That is wonderful thank you so much. I've just got my new boy home and he is a wonderful horse. He travelled well (5 hours worth) and just isn't bothered by anything. He wasn't so struck on the idea of babysitting my 2 year old purebred, so we'll leave that for a couple of weeks I think! They did meet over the stable wall though and were fine with each other.

I have just altered the info on All Breeds, as when I checked his papers his Grand Dam was Fayrelands Dancing Tiara and not Shepley Tamara on both sides as listed. He is carrying a very large percentage of Crabbet blood and indeed Arab blood fullstop, but his AHS papers say he is 53%

One horse in his pedigree is unknown and called Sunshine. This mare was foaled in 1964 according to All Breeds, but doesn't say who her Sire and Dam are which is disappointing. Is there any way of finding out do you think?

Shalal's breeder is down as P.A. Thornhill from Chesterfield. Does that mean anything to anyone?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but I'd love to know more about the whole family.

Hi Jayne
Mrs. Thornhill owned the Zyda stud but I dont know if the stud is still breeding. There were quite a few Zyda horses on the circuit in the early 2000's though so it is possible. In fact I have a Palomino magazine open on my desk at the moment and "Zyda Dancing Tramia (owned and bred by Mrs. PA Thornhill" was 3rd in the National In-Hand points scheme in 2000.
If you join the British Palomino Society I am sure that they will give you contact details for Mrs. Thornhill. I will have a look in some old magazines and see if I can come up with anything for you if I get the chance.

I am glad Hal has settled in so well. I hope you have many many happy years with Dancer's son. Fayrelands horses are fab.
Debbie.

Hi Jayne (Qui Jon Ginn)

I will e-mail you a copy of my old girls photo pedigree chart. It has all of your boys paternal Arab line in it as well as Golden Trail from Shepley Tamara). I have got old video footage of Dancing Magic at a show, and of his last(?) full sister Fayrelands Dancing Tiara/Tara from when I visited the Fayrelands stud but they are in old format so I need to find a way of getting them on to computer.

On the search for the breeding of Sunshine - I think you might struggle with that one because there will be loads of palomino horses going by that name. However, I am going to try to ring Mrs. Munday who I am told had the Monclare stud, for some information on another thread. She must have owned Sunshine if she bred Monclare Arabian King. Will let you know if I find anything out but you often find an unregistered Welsh or Irish x in the bloodlines of British Palominos.
Hope Hal and your baby horse are making friends.

Thanks so much Debbie. I got your email and it was lovely to see so many pictures of Hal's relatives.

According to Hal's papers though Dancing Tiara was a half sister of Dancing Magic...........Her sire was Tombola and not Quadeha. Just thought you would like to know.

Will keep in touch. Huge thanks again for all your help so far. Hopefully we might be able to find out something about Sunshine!

Hi Jayne
I may be mixing things up... Carol Banks said she was sister to Dancing Magic .. but may have said half sister. It was nearly 20 years ago!! She was beautiful anyway and if I can get the video converted I will post it. I also have some old footage that will have Dancer on.

Hope all is well with Hal. Can we see some piccies of him in his new home?
Best wishes

Hi Debbie,

I'll get some decent shots of Hal and post them for you to see. He is a beautiful horse and I am so pleased with him. He has a wonderful attitude and I can't wait to get him fit to do more with him. He just loves to work and everything he is asked to do is done with such enthusiasm!

Would love to see the footage you have of Tiara and Dancer. Thanks again

Debbie - She was unnamed and unregistered when I got her as a 4yr old, so I named her myself as Sahara Ice. She is now in Holland and in foal to a cremello stallion. The lady that has her is delighted with her.

Do you have any photos of her Pashon, as I'd love to add her to the ones I have of Hal's relatives.

Does anyone out there know where Chardonny went to?

Hi Havenbeech
Thanks for posting the pictures of my Fayre's half brother and sister. Dancer was absolutely beautiful.... as is Angel. I take it that Angel is the foal at foot?

She is going to throw you some fantastic babies.

Do you know Sue, how Sunshine was bred by any chance? Monclare Arabian King is in my lads pedigree. He was foaled in 1974 and is out of Sunshine by Risslan. There is no parentage listed to Sunshine on All Breeds website unfortunately and I don't know where else to look to find more info on her!

I'm also interested in a mare called Sunshine.

The mare I want to know about is the palomino mother of the mare Shepley Sundancer.

If you ignore the entry regarding the palomino Sunshine on allbreeds and instead click on the Sunshine with no colour noted you find a Sunshine by Shepley Suntream which makes me think I've found the Sunshine I've been looking for.

I might be leading you completely astray but I do wonder if this is the one you want to find too.

I started thread recently on AL tracing breeding lines forum regarding a stallion called Sundowner who had been used by the Cromer stud and the Monclare stud is being mentioned as a possible link to my horses breeding. I believe the Cromer Stud bought Shepley Sundancer from the Shepley stud as a two year old and so if there is a link with the Monclare stud perhaps its the same Sunshine.

Perhaps worth you looking at the thread.

Best of luck,

Chris

Hi Chris

I think you could be right!! Seems to fit in well into my lads pedigree and certainly the dates are right. Just a pity it doesn't say who Sunshine's dam is. There must be someone who knows about this mare and how she is bred. I think I'll need to get in touch with the Palomino Society and see if they can shed any light on things.

Thanks for the help though Chris, very good of you.

Sunshine is registered in the Part Bred Arab register VI, so we need to find someone with this PBA register for her year of birth??. to confirm where she got the part arab from.

Mrs Collings - Shepley & Mrs Mundy - Monclare were not that far apart, they lived with in 20 miles from each other and bred mainly Palomino's.. Mrs Mundy is still in the area and would be contacable I'm sure, she lives near Kidderminster.

I remember a mare called Sunshine but can't be sure it was the same one...will look at the other horse you mention. Having looked at the breeding of Shepley Sunstrean, I don't think your right, but, to confirm we need the correct dates of birth for these and confiration from the PBAR VI.....The Hansone Witch, was by Mrs Collings resident Stallion. ALYOSHA (1955) a Chestnut. In the 1969 Stallions directory Mrs Collings had three other mares listed at her stud they were. Ziance(1958)ch. (Ziph/Rishala), Lishida(1965)ch.(Ludo/Nishida) and Dancing Princess (1967) ch. (Radfan/Fabiola). for anyone else with an interest.. Fabiola was stationed with Mrs Mundy @ Monclare. Her Mares listed for that year are non mentioned at the moment, will list if anyone interested, all chestnut & they could all be pure bred.now wondering if the Part Breds & Palomino's were listed else where.

will post a notice for PAR Reg. VI Book.( I only have X as it has my mare in it).Sue

Hmmm...........the Sunshine in Hal's (Zyda Golden Shalal) pedigree at the moment has a date of 1964 under her name, but quite who put that in I don't know. She produced Monclare Arabian King in 1974, his sire was Risslan, foaled in 1961, so I guess it could be the mare you are talking about Sue, if she was born in 1958. That would have made her 16 when she had Monclare Arabian King, which is very possible. He was palomino which would be about right if she was an Albino as Risslan was chestnut.

Be nice to know for sure, whouldn't it?!
