My husband went to work today as normal, (he owns a car showroom)
and a youth came into the showroom and asked about a car and grunted that he could not afford it.. and after chatting with this youth, my husband went into one of the office's and suddenley two men wearing masks burst into the office and wrestled him to the floor, tied him up with tyre wraps and held a huge knife to his face...

They demanded the safe keys, my husband said the keys were in his briefcase which was in his car, by this time the black man was getting very upset and was threatening to "stick him" and was hysterical! they got the briefcase and tipped it up and emptied the safe of a large amount of cash, passport, driving license, company credit card and personal card, wills etc and also the spare keys to my sons new flat which had a tag on with his address on it, (he is away on holiday at the moment!)

They bundled my husband into another office, He managed to break the tyre wraps (how I dont know!) and unlocked the back door in this office! he legged it outside and flagged down a motorist who rang 999,there were 8 police cars a helicoptor police dogs on the scene within 8 mins, but the b*******s managed to get away,

Now these people have our home address too!

This all happened in broad daylight at 10-30 am on a busy road in the centre of Loughborough,

What a horrible world we are living in today

Linda x

Hi,

Thankyou Ladies,

I think my husband is more shook up than he admitts!

He is a bit battered and bruised, but at least he is ok...

I can't believe how they were not disturbed, people are wondering around looking at cars all day,

He usually works on his own on a sunday, but I think after this there will have to be two salesmen in!

I hope they catch these scum bags, the forensic people have finger prints and a footprint off some paperwork when the desk was tipped over,

We will just have to be extra careful at home now!
It is still quite hard to believe this has really happened!

Lx

Have just read this and am absolutely appalled. I hope your OH is ok. What a terrible shock. You read about it all the time but you certainly never expect it to happen to you. I do hope that he and you are both soon well and get over the horrors of what is happening far too much in our society.

OMG linda,
so sorry to hear this,i am glad he got away, and hes safe how awful, becareful at home, and your sons flat.

my husband was held at gun point, the gun was at his head, at the garage he worked in about 5 yrs ago now,a few weeks before that happened the staff found tubs of petol on the roof with cutting gear,i said to hubby then hand your notice in its not worth your life but he didnt and then the gun man held the garage up,my husband regonised the man as he had came in for fags previos and lived locally, hubby told the police where he lived his name the lot and he was not charged because of lack of evedence, that was the last night hubby worked there.but it has been held up again by gun and another time a assitant was hit with a baseball bat,and the 3rd time threatened with a knife.awful.

andy (hubby) was in shock for a long time after it ,i remember going into the garage(at home where car is kept)and i said something ,he shouted at me as he never heard me come in and it made him jump,he didnt like going out at night, sudden movements /noises,our little boy jumped on him for a cuddle and andy freaked,we just had to make sure we let him know we were there and no sudden noises.
your hubby is most probably hiding alot of things which scare him,my hubby was not scared of anything before,so to jump at your own shadow was awful,he is ok now though.
so keep a close eye on your hubby,he may need to see a doctor,as it can have long term effects on some people.he may have flashbacks /nightmares.i do hope you get over this ,theres some ba---------s,out there, why dont they work like the rest of us.

I wish you all well and hope the police catch them..

Hiya Linda, hell thats terrible, hope your hubby is on the mend physically and psycologically. These people are vermin and would rather steal from hard working law abiding people rather than get off their backsides and work for their own. Lock em up and throw away the key.Love Dean and Anneee

Just read this Linda and am absolutely disgusted. You must both be devastated. These excuses for humans are the absolute dregs of life . They must have bee hanging around awhile to know when to carry out this disgusting act. Perhaps someone noticed them. I hope the forensics get the evidence they need to get the scumbags.

Keep your peckers up chuks and hugs to you and hubbie

So sorry to hear about this he must have been terrified.

This kind of thing makes my blood boil it really does. Someone going
about their daily business, making a genuine living and some scumbags
think they can come and help theirselves

Trouble is when and IF they catch them the punishment is not enough IMO

Janet

HI Linda
I was really shocked to hear what has happened to your husband. Unfortunately we live in a world of you've got it I want it so I will take what is yours because I don't want to work for a living.
Until those in power get tougher with these scum bags then life is constantly a lottery. Sorry if I have offended anyone with these thoughts but its just not on when decent law abiding people cannot go about their daily lives without the fear of being terrorised

So VERY sorry to hear this, Linda - we sort of expect this kind of thing in Nottingham, but not in quiet little Loughborough! If it is any consolation, the Leics police seem to be more on the ball than Notts or Derbys!

I strongly suggest you get your husband a referral to a counsellor for post-traumatic stress disorder. He may not be aware of it yet, but he will be suffering from it, and it can have a devastating effect if not addressed early. My OH was attacked nearly 30 years ago, but is still haunted by PTSD, and even watching violent events in TV dramas bring it to the surface again.

Yes, thank goodness no one was badly hurt, thats the main thing!

Keren you are right... we were in one room at home last night and we heard a bump and my husband jumped up, it was nothing but he is quite jumpy now!

He says he is fine, but I know he isn't

He works 7 days a week and these thugs think they can just take what they want!! no matter what the cost!
