How awful for you.......my deepest condolences.
Although it was an awful shock for you please take comfort in the fact that your mare knew either nothing or very little about it. Very few animals are 'fortunate' (for want of a better word) to go like this. This is what I wish for my boy.....out inthe field, grazing with his friends and no suffering.
Thinking of you.

Thanks everyone - it means a lot to read such kind messages.
Just got back from the horses, her daughter is a little subdued but I am so proud of the way she is holding up
Its really strange, she was always the lead horse in her little herd and a couple of weeks ago she started pushing her daughter forward, making her take charge of things, getting her to lead the herd up the field for food etc I now am wondering whether she knew her time was coming to an end....? Her daughter although only young is doing such a good job of being 'leader' she looks a bit like someone who's just started in a new office (bless) but she is finding her feet and the others are being so sweet with her, waiting for her to make the decisions etc... |

Oh, *so* sorry to hear this - but to look on the positive side, at least neither of you had to go through the trauma of her suffering a long and drawn out illness.
I think an unexpected heart-attack in our sleep is the way most of us would want to go...

Well - things are starting to seem more normal now, well at least they are seeming less odd without my girl around.
Her daughter is still doing well, she's a bit spooky but she's eating well |

So sorry to hear about you girl Porsche, such a sad and sudden loss. I would be comforted by the fact she knew nothing of it and was in her favorite place surrounded by her friends xx |
