I have noticed over the past few months, reading the your horse and Horse and rider that there have been a few arabs featured in the articles...Last months horse and rider had a feature on Gemma - who i am sure posts on here - one picture showing gemma riding across a huge open field in a bitless bridle. Last months Horse and Rider had a lady called Julia who had won a lesson with Jeanette Breakwell this article had 5 pages worth, showing this stunning pure bred arab mare flying over various huge, scary looking Jumps!
I just wanted to say well done to these owners for putting their horses forward for these mags - they aren't arab specific and they really showed the different disciplines people do with their arabs, it was really good to see!

Yes that was me!!! I was so pleased with the article - it looked really good.
I missed Julia's piece. Well done - proving that Arabs can jump! |

Hey Gemma, well done. Is there a link you can post here from their archive so we can see the story? I've cancelled my subscription to H & H - it was getting left around unread most of the time out of show season!!
I'm like a stuck record but I think we should all put forward our successes and interesting Araby stories to all the mags - to promote the breed and dispel some of the unhelpful myths about the breed. |

I did think about posting on here, but I thought it would have bored you all!
It's in the latest copy of Your Horse - the 'meet the reader' questionnaire thingy (that's a technical term!). They don't have an archive so unfortunately I can't post a link to it. I'll try and get it scanned in (will speak to our friendly IT guy upstairs and batter my eyelashes...!).
I'm on a bit of a one-woman crusade at the moment - spreading the word about a) endurance and b) arabs (well, part-breds in my case!) and I was really pleased to see they'd used the pic of M in her bosal. I didn't like to tell the story about that particular ride (Ashdown Forest) being the one that she realised she could actually run through it, and she spent most of the ride chasing the horse in front with me cursing very loudly..... we went back into a snaffle for the rest of the season! However, she's being very calm at the moment (did someone swap my pony?) so I'm going to risk the bosal again at South Downs at the weekend. If you hear stories on the news about a run-away chestnut PBA, last seen heading along the South Downs Way at a flat-out gallop, you'll know it didn't work. |

Well done you, Gemma. Will go and buy it.
Wish I could lay claim to being the Julia, but since Spider and I have to do a victory dance if we clear six inches, I dont think anyone would believe me! J |

I got a letter printed in Horse & Rider some years back (star letter of the month too! Although I never received my 'prize') and they also printed a pic of Amelia (unfortunately I appeared to have my tongue sticking out in it, but she looked very nice, which is the main thing). My small claim to fame...
Gemma: if you are allowed to have a scan of 'your' article please do put it on here - it would be lovely to read it!
