Hi

Choice of Car???

Classic/Old

New

Mine would be.............

Classic- Austin Healy 3000

New- if it was a sporty car think it would be the new mini as they are FAB to drive
but im most happy with an Astra Estate as they are so practical and reliable

Blimey thats a difficult one. I have always had to go by value for money and on top of that - what I can afford.

I reckon for an old car I would choose the original mini, I used to love mine.

Now, I like the Smart cars - I know, sad person!!! but OH has the family car and I just have big enough for me!

Just been to see my Dad's Jag, 3.4 S-type, sable brown, leather seats, walnut dash - she was born in 1968 - so almost as old as me!!!, and only done 68,000 miles from new, my Dad was the 2nd owner, he bought it in 1972. They don't make em as good now. Drives like a dream, acceleration to die for, sticks to the road like s**t to a blanket, and looks like it's worth a bucket of money. Just love it, brings back many childhood memories - aaaahhhh, wish I could afford to drive it every day!!!

My Dad always wanted an E-type Oz, but he was happy with the S-type, he loved that car to bits. OH and I are having a bit of an argument over the car, he wants to keep it and drive it occasionally (I know for a fact that he won't get the time and we haven't got the money). I want to find someone who will love and cherish it as my Dad did - a bit of a dilema really!!!

What a shame you aren't going to keep it Tahir, there is a huge market for this sort of car and you will be surprised what she may fetch!
For instance a 1964 MK11 on classic car site is going for £16,850

Oz, believe me, I would love to keep her, I know her full history and have spent many a happy hour in that car, I could write a book about some of the journeys we have had in her, she's been in the family 37 years. I would just hate to see her rot in our barn when there is someone out there who would love and appreciate her like my Dad did.

We have a black Mazda MX5 called Diabolo who I love dearly (personalised number plate too with 'Have You Hugged A Curve Today?' on it) but if money was no object I'd have a Morgan Super 8 with the leather bonnet strap.

For everyday sensible driving we have a Maxda 323 called Peapod (we always name our cars) which is a jolly good car.

My first car was Ulric (yellowy beige Fiat 126); then came Reynard (red Renault 5 that was killed in an accident); then Lemmy (yellow Astra hatchback); then Foxy (russet red Astra hatchback). I painted Reynard too, with his name on the door and little creatures on the side - I was about to do a big pic on the bonnet of a Tiger Moth when he died. I'd love to get a bright red Ka and paint ladybird spots on it!!!!

Oooh Zoe what a good topic Cars are my second love
I'd have one of these given the chance
Mmm a Dodge Viper GTS (what WOULD Mr Blair think!?)
My first ever car was a lil 'V' reg Mini 1100cc called Maxwell Looked rather like this one until we had a little run in with a wall and dad decided I should have something a bit sturdier! So I ended up with a Black Metro, who some reprobate wrote off. My next car I really HATED I sent my dad to the auction with my insurance money from the Metro, and the instructions to buy nothing bigger than an escort. Soo off he goes (he has a garage BTW so you're guessing I'm in fairly safe hands) Gets back, call me with the news that he's got a car, its nice and 'tidy' and white. No mention of WHAT the car is...so when he opens the garage door you can imagine my utter JOY as I'm presented with...AN AUSTIN MAESTRO!!!! I was 20 and MORTIFIED! That car stayed with me for YEARS it just wouldn't die! We nicknamed it 'The Sherman Tank!'
My next car was my beloved Vitara jeep 'Arnie' cos he was big and butch and a little numb Door fell off and dad decided time for a change of car (This time I viewed the car tho..wasn't making same mistake twice!)
Soo along came my 'agricultural' Diahatsu Fourtrak 'Vin Diesel' cos he was a diesel of course Alas it turns out that he has an identity problem...he didn't know he was a 4X4..and embarrassingly left me stranded at the yard one day in the snow
And finally my current car which I LOVE!Its the most modern fully functioning car I have ever had and he's fabulous darling! Only problem is we can't think of a suitable name

I like both super sports cars and the classics, (I have a Golf Mk II 1.8), but my second love is motorbikes. Am hoping to get a Yamaha Thunderace sometime next year, but if I had the money or the bottle it would be a Hyabusa!! First of all I need to learn to ride one as I have only ever been a pillion rider. I want to go THAT fast but be sat on the front!!!
