HI, AS all ARAB and horse mad people,we have very hectic lifestyles and that our horses and other animals come first, just wondering if anyone gets a chance to have a holiday and if so where are you off too?Or what do you call a holiday? I went 15 years without a holiday untill last year.I was fortunate to have employed someone to take charge, but i still felt guilty leaving them and worried about them. Zoe.X

MALVERN is my main holiday, but any shows I go to on my days off are good mini breaks. I wouldn't be much good on a long holiday as I would be worried about my gg's. But a few days here and there are great!!!! I used to go away with my parents all the time, getting dragged away from the gg's! but it wasn't so bad cos I got to go to Florida twice, Austria, Cyprus, Lanzarotte, Crete and Mallorca lots of times.... oh and we went all the way to North Wales!!!! |

I use Malvern as my getaway time, I take horses so peeps can go on hols. Having travelled the world there is nowhere left to visit unless its a busmans holiday. MInd you a cruise is beckoning!! Am planning my wedding so maybe combine the two - so long as it doesnt clash with shows!! lol

Holiday to me is free of anything horsey and anything related nice to do absolutely nothing for a couple of weeks. Miss them of course. Last went on holiday about 4 years ago i think to Portugal and person looked after horses, went to devon for a week as well but doesnt count as it was visiting my brother and going car shopping for him plus side of it was though we got to see the dartmoor ponies whihc was nice. Poor person looking after geegees was phoned everyday just to make sure they were okay.

Holidays? What are those? Used to have those - BH (before horses!), but now we have to snatch a week here and there, even with leaving our very capable groom in charge, that includes going away to shows!

Went to Egypt last Feb and did the riding in the desert on an Arab. also galloped in Red Sea surf while watching sunrise. No holiday this year due to impending op, but South America or Far East next Feb. My friend looks after my horses as if they were her own when necessary. |

I was never bothered about holidays until my OH came on the scene. He's a roaming vet and has lived & travelled all over the world. Our 1st holiday together was in paradise...Fiji. I have to say I am bitten with the travel bug but never admit this to him, he thinks I go to keep him company!!! I have ridden to the top of an extinct volcano in Fiji, galloped along a fab beach in Tunisia, been dragged (kicking & screaming) to the top of Mount Kinabaloo and had my hair pulled by orangutangs in Borneo, came face to face with a Baluga (white)Whale in Canada not to mention cleaning out a moon bears ears in China! I have a toe nail belonging to said bear (SAD! ) Touched a toe of howler monkey in Guatemala and helped OH remove a leech froma delicate area in Belize!!! This year I intend to make aquaintance with gorillas in Uganda and see some big game in South Africa. After that it's just a Blue Whale I need to see Can't you tell I just hate animals and holidays!!!

Can't live without my holidays! Usually off to the Far East somewhere most winters for about a month. As with all mad horse owners we all work 7 days a week and I reckon I deserve 3 or 4 weeks off once a year...have to re-charge the batteries - not getting any younger! Fortunately Ken loves travelling Can't imagine, Helen, you thinking that you've been everywhere and there's nowhere else to go! There's a huge wide world out there for everyone to explore! I just love travelling and meeting people. Thinking of Kerula, India this year. Has anyone been there and could give me any info first hand?

Gill,
You go for it, girl. My favoured method of gaining a holiday is to (ab)use my OH's credit card and book. Then I inform OH of departure date and cost and leave it up to him. |

Well holidays are a no for me. My sister and I could have went to falaraki, ibiza, turkey and chek(?) in the last two years, but being very dedicated we couldn't leave our 1 baby. now we have 4. turned them all down, it was getting paid for us and all. though we have to go to brussles this april for four days, and its just when we are expecting are first ever foal, and its out of a maiden mare too. Its a compulsory part of our degree so have no choice, I don't know why they can't give us the lectures over here. Well The only holiday I want to go on, is an african safari on horse back. My sister and I might do that, when we are sure the horses are in good hands, and know they aren't going to lose weight. (can't trust anyone yet with them). It will be a long holiday about three weeks but it is worth the wait.

Forgot to say, Gill, that it is neglect of duty not to memorise OH's credit card numbers, start and expiration dates and security code on back of card. Has proved useful on numerous occasions. |

Haven't been on holiday since 1990 went to Cyprus, Israel and Egypt, loved the pyramids obssessed with Pharoah's etc always have been perhaps thats the reason I love arabs.
Don't miss holidays hate flying, we had a two day endurance ride at Norfolk two years ago and used to stay for 3/4 days at sherwood, but since we have three horses now can't leave one.
Never mind I'm happy and feel previlged to have my wonderfuls arabs

Went to all the European Tourest places as a young innocent Air Stewardess!!......been sicked over numerous times by drunken holiday makers....had so many stop overs in hot and smelly places filled with loud over sexed natives!! it has put me right off the Costa lotta scene, done the Greek and Turkey bit, have no desire to get sunburn....so perhaps an Artic break is for me have to say I am with Annie here, would just love to visit India...
No time for holidays..stopathome is fine |
