Hi
Michelle
What made me think about the auction right from the start is that i found it very strange that the BREAST CANCER Logos were NOT displayed on the BREAST CANCER AUCTION Website !!! |

Hi peeps
I was a lurker for some time before I finally joined Arabian Lines and I seem to remember Marie-Ann announcing that she was going to do the Race for Life (or something similar) for a cancer charity last year. A number of AL members donated money but I remember thinking it was odd that she never updated how she got on and never replied to questions asking her.... I wonder if this was a scam too??
Its such a shame that she went to such lengths to broadcast the auction as well by advertising it in Horse & Hound etc as it is bound to be reported in H&H at some point that the organiser of the auction is now in custodial sentence for theft and fraud. It most certainly does not look good for the Arab world and the stallion owners who donated must be left feeling devastated.
What a sham.

I dont know whats happened, so will not say anything, but I would imagine the person who leased her their stallion is more than a bit worried at the moment....

Hi Newbie
Well you have just aired what i would of like to of said. Yes there are stallion owners out there that donated that feel humiliated over this hence they will never donate again It is an Embarresment for the The Arab World, The Breast Cancer Charity and The Stallion Donators. I had pretty much worked out it was a sham from the start, hence no logos on the website, website not updating reguarly and the other stories that were going around were just not adding up. Im glad i never fell for it !!!
Lets really hope that the Charity will benifit from the monies raised with the hopes that the monies will be paid direct to..... THE BREAST CANCER CHARITY

Oh dear, this is so sad for all concerened, I do think we should wait for Niel to update before passing judgement, but then I don't know the facts or have any involvement. I'm sure though, that Niel wouldn't have issued a statement if things were too out of control, it may just take a little time to put things right. |

Funny, that I too remember the Race for Life Charity being promoted on Arabian Lines by Marie-Ann, and then nothing, no report of how much money was raised either. Oh well, people come and go in our lives, lets hope all money raised (including that which was payable via Paypal to Arwen Arabians) goes to the Breast Cancer Charity. We live and learn!! Nicky |

Hi
This is why im saying that the monies SHOULD GO DIRECT to the Charity and then WE will all know where the monies have gone,to the correct place. Dont do the Paypal.
I too now remember the race for life,Mmmmmmmm |

I just think its terrible people are using the excuse of a charity when they are trying to be charitied theirselves (if thats whats happened) to think of all those sick people struggling and then for the money to be taken or for it to all be a sham is terrible.
What i think is worse is that apparently she was give this charity number bla bla bla and if she was arrested last May surely they should have done a check on her and seen that has a criminal background and should not have been allowed the charity number in the first place. |

Well, going back some years there was always some sort of drama affecting Marie-Ann. Things don't add up when you buy a horse from france and it ends up going back to the owner, buy a horse from belgium and never pay for it, buy expensive horses and then have to sell again because of some sort of drama or another.
In 2005 I had a horse for sale on this site and she contacted me and I didn't bother to reply because I knew she alwasy seemed to have some sort of hidden agenda! And that was 2 years ago!
so....define 'messer' ??!

I always thought the stallion she had from france was on a lease, but the i always used to think "Why would u lease a stallion, import him over and cover him with your none papered 1eyed mare from a sale, an ID X TB that you was selling and 1 other that i forgot about"? i mean whats the point of that?
When i first met her she was going through a diveroce and needed to sell up, i took an interest in one of her mares at the time, didnt buy but we remained chatty. I spoke to her not so long ago before her stallion come over and was talking away and she was very much planning for the future.
Surely there is a way to check if the number is real becasue whats the point of issuing them otherwise? |

Hi Carla
Shame you mare is too small for him but he is a BIG boy in every sense!
I often have people who pass his field leaving messages for me asking if he is at stud but so far they have all been people with ponies so I have had to say no.
My favourite story is the little girl in the village who has Aspergers and when she is impossible to manage they take her to his gate and he nuzzles her hand; they keep her there until she has calmed down. I was totally unaware of it until someone else told me. It is amazing how horses (especially Arabs) seem to be so sensitive to someone in need as he is often quite cheeky with me.
I do hope no one will be put off donating breedings in future, it doesn't reflect on those of us who donated breedings. I too feel for Hanne, wish I had a stable so I could take MJ and keep him safe until the mess is sorted out. It is boubly awful for her as she isn't in the country, I know how I would feel if it was my stallion.
Hopefully everything will be OK in the end and Breast Cancer will gain substantially from this.

What a shame that there are people out there who spoil it for the rest of us. I have always thought she seemed a little odd! As Michelle said, always some drama, horses bought and sold, always wanting to organise something or another. Innocently you could have always thought of her as trying to help the breed or a good cause...now it's clear that she wanted to help herself!
After all the sympathy people have given her in the past..... |

Hi
she had no sympathy from me as i read between the lines with the illness,a stomach ulcer then she was on Vallium,Mmmmm !!! It never added up.
again i am truely concerned about the monies because it could end up that the donators will be giving out free coverings and the monies have gone else where. I think it should be taken out of those hands so all the winners can be sure,as to how can we trust people that have stood by a person behind so much Deciept and Fraud on such a very very large scale. You cant !!! This can be easily sorted between the stallion owners and winning bidders,as i said in an earlier post production of a reciept of payment from THE BREAST CANCER CHARITY itself,is the only way we will know. |

I think maybe it would just be nice to know if it was ACTUALLY done properly and whether there was an intention of the money going to the charity |

Just a cautionary note. Whilst the fact that Marie Ann has been convicted of theft from her employers is without doubt, there is (as far as I know) no evidence that the money being raised through the auction was intended for anyone other than the charity. Obviously, under the circumstances, there is a loss of the trust previously placed in Marie Ann and I can fully understand why that should be the case. However, rather than speculate (maybe incorrectly) that she intended to benefit from the funds, efforts should be made to ensure that all the money raised reaches the charity which those people who donated the covering and those who placed bids intended it to reach. |

Having read this and been quite shocked at it, couldnt someone else take over and make sure the money raised gets through to the Breast Cancer Charity, or as someone else has said donate direct to the trust.
A lot of people have gone to a lot of trouble and donated their stallions and people are excited about the prospect of their foals, seems such a shame if it all went belly up.
I dont know this lady involved so i cant pass judgment on her, but it seems awful if this was not intended to be 100%.
