STATEMENT REGARDING BREAST CANCER RESEARCH AUCTION
We have been asked to release this statement on the behalf of Marie Ann Davies from Neil ( Marie Ann's partner )
Neil has said:
" At present Marie Ann is serving a custodial sentence. She is unable to contact any auction bidder/stallion owner regarding the Breast Cancer Auction she ran this month Event Number 400152272. I am working on Marie Ann's behalf sorting all winning bids, liasing with owners and the BC charity. I ask that members understand that I shall need a little time to sort through all paperwork and contact all the people involved. Please do not send any money until I have contacted you with the details and instructions on how to pay etc. As soon as all the necessary paper work is in place I will release the total amount raised for this great cause. Thank you for your patience and understanding. "
We ask that members restrict any replies to Neils statement to helpful comments, and refrain from any libellous innuendo, or speculation. Any detrimental conjecture will be remove from this topic. NOTE: Arabianlines is in no way connected to the above auction, so any questions should be directed to the relevant parties involved

Would it be helpful to Neil under the circumstances to have an "Advisor" or something similar. I am sure many people on here would be willing to help in any way to assist in getting this auction back on track. I for one am willing to help in any way possible.

Hi
Due to all the complications of this matter would it not be better if the monies went direct to the Breast Cancer Charity where a reciept could be obtained as proof of monies have been paid and this to then be produced to the stallion owners of the winning bidders.
At the end of the day it was all about 'Breast Cancer Charity' |

I totally agree with Zoe, payments should be made payable straight to the Breast Cancer Charity, and not via the paypal account that was originally set up for this facility. Nicky |

I certainly will not be paying any money to anything other then direct to the Charity for my own peace of mind in the circumstances. Also do we know how many people donated direct, as I believe a direct donation button was set up on the website also.

What a shame this has had to end like this. Could I personally say that I think everybody who offered their beautiful stallions is wonderful and I do hope that we will see some results of this auction next year. |

Neil, will no doubt post on here later today. In the meantime, as one or two of you have pointed out... all cheques should be made out to Breast Cancer Research, but wait until you have heard from Neil.

My stallion didn't show any bids on the Auction site, but I offered him at the starting bid and a very nice lady from Bucks wants to send a lovely mare to him, with the money obviously going to the charity. So hopefully the result will be a lovely foal next year.

Agree with you Zoe, if it wasn't for the generosity of the stallion owners, worthy charities would be much poorer, afterall the stallion owners are not only donating a covering, they are also committed to putting in time and loving care for the mare whilst she is with them.
It is easy to forget to donate to a charity every now and then, auctions like this raise awareness and highlight the need to repay the charities who work so hard towards looking after the needy.
Also have to praise the bidders who are happy to pledge money towards a good cause, and take on the responsibility of raising a living, demanding and sometimes stroppy animal!!!

I only got one lady from Southern France who wanted to use my stallion by AI but alas he isn't licenced for that. Unfortunately his web page was not put on the auction site so there was only a photo of his eye, not much for people to go on especially as he has not been shown due to an injury as a youngster.
He is snow white with lovely black pigment, huge black eyes, yards of mane and tail and stands 15 3"; he is a very nice boy with a lovely temperament. He is a Crusader son out of a straight Spanish mare bred by the Maxwell's and if anyone wantes to use him I am still willing to let him be used; I did say that I would give three coverings if anyone wanted them. All his foals so far have been show quality and providing the money goes where intended I will still donate the coverings.
I hope it is OK to post this, Paula, but despite what has happened I am sure a lot of good will come from the auction and we need to look at the positive and try to forget the negative. I am sure there are a lot of happy people who have won nominations, me included.

I am more then over the moon with my win - and am trusting that I will have a sweet little filly (keep wishing, keep wishing) I have always really admired the wonderful Ffatal Attraction and I will be literally wishing my life away until thefoal is born - I can't wait. I just want to thank Delyth for being so generous to put this wonderful boy in the auction - i'm still on cloud nine, it took a long while to sink in as well!! I just think it's fantastic that people have deicated time and money to such a worthy cause - regardless if the end result is that thousands of pounds are raised for Breast Cancer Research then any worry or concern will all have been more then worth it! Barbara, I wish I had a suitable mare to send to your lovely boy, his eye and bloodlines were enough to convince me that he would make a wonderful sire (that golden cross, they make such wonderful sires, aaahhh!!!). Unfortunately, I am mega paranoid about sending small maiden mares (14hh) to stallions standing 15hh plus, my mares are also "golden cross"!! They are by a 15.1hh stallion out of a 13.2hh mare - (small but very typey). I didn't breed them, but I sincerely thank the idiot that did for taking the risk, LOOOL!!

Barbara you are a very generous person
Zoe, I can fully understand that! I wouldn't either
Carla, well said! we all bid for our own gain, but stallion owners donate a breeding FREE of charge, They have nothing to gain often just a load of hassle
It is very sad! I for one just get more dispondent!

Your absoloutly right - i think sometimes it is easy to forget it isn't a walk in the park having an outside mare in, and opening your stallion up to whatever mare may walk through the stable door - and lots of hardwork and care go into returning a mare in foal - well done everyone that donated a breeding (or a few) - I really admire you. Although I can understand why this would people off doing the same again it would be a real shame to lose the strentgh of a community willing to give. |

Don't get despondent Linda, at the end of the day, the money that is being raised could go towards saving someone's life, could give quality of life to someone, and could also help someone grieve over a loved one.
Everyone has a favourite charity and donates as and when appropriate.
We could all live our lives and say "stuff" to charities because of a "one-off" selfish act we have witnessed, but in reality, if we didn't have charities like Breast Cancer Research, and countless others, the world would definitely be an uncaring place to be.
Nobody demands charity, it is given willingly and happily and comes from the "heart".
Sorry, rant over, will now step off my soapbox

Kate, that is a wonderful thing to do I really hope everything turns out well,
These auctions should be a great way to raise money for charities, and I have donated a breeding in the past and half price livery costs! but I know many stallion owners including myself! that have had problems and have been put off which is a real shame! as raising money for worthy causes is what it is really all about,
I little thought goes a long way
I really hope everything turns out well, |

This situation I feel is rather unfortunate and in some cases may have put people off donating breedings/money in the future. We must remember that these charities do rely on external donation and this will NOT put me off donating my stallion in future charity events. |
