Hi Sue, Don't think this will be very helpful at all, but maybe interesting. My Mum bought Shillada aged 3 from the Backhouses in Canvey Island as her foundation mare. We lived on the other side of Pwllheli to the Jones, who were known for Mr Jones' business - Jones Plant Hire. They got interested in Arabs just as my Mum ran out of energy when my sister and I left home. She had bought Shillada, an Anglo called Ramona and a TB called Sally H (half sister to a Grand National winner) and her bay stallion, a bay called Malek el Saharha (spelling ?? sorry) because she believed Arabs were the most beautiful horses and that local teenagers (like me and my sister!) needed beautiful, practical, sturdy horses and wanted to produce pures and part breds for that purpose. When we left, she ran out of energy (a mum with 7 kids and a farm to cope with!) and eventually sold them, and the young stock. It doesn't surprise me that the Jones' bought the mare! She was a beautiful, refined chestnut. |

Hi, Im not sure if this helps but your too are the same confirmation (type) as my boy. He is CR Serbask (see the other thread about the fleabitten grey - MC natalie Jabask?). He is by Bru-bet Seradro and MC Natalie Jabask - all Gellidara horses.
Moldequine said that her mare always looks like she's in foal - well so does Basky!! I think that all 4 are typical of USA type rather than UK.
Sorry but I havent read this thread fully - anything else you would like to know just ask!

I think it might help you if you look at the other posting, now reached 10 pages and sorted out where & how these mares are bred and came from...checkout 'history wanted on fleabitten mare' that might help put you in the picture... It makes such good reading it should be turned into a book....except its put so many poor Arabs in desperate circumstances. Sue |
