Hi
We have a Roundhills Mare called Roundhills Silver Beauty (Ellie) who is by BPS Nat Champ Shulay Faberge out of BPS Nat Champ Shepley White Jasmine.
She is about 15.2h, 6 years old and broken and rides very nicely. She is a very good doer and a lovely horse to have around. She moves as well as any arab with her tail over her back and floaty action when excited.
We went to Jans and she is a lovely person who has bred and is still breeding some very nice horses that are good sorts.
Will try and get some photos of Ellie and post them.

Hi Debbie
You are taking me back in time with the name Zalaman (over 20+ years).
Colin and Kate were really nice people and had and bred some lovely horses. Zalaman was a lovely big, friendly palomino stallion who was a site to behold when you saw him in the ring.
Also I greatly admired Carol Banks' Fayrelands palominos and I thought that Quadeha was lovely.
At the same time was Colebridge Stud who also had some very beautiful palominos. Also still going strong from that era is the Legend Stud for Josie and David, Moonshine stud for Dianah May and I am sure alot more who at the moment I cant remember.
My dream was to have one of these beautiful animals one day....it came true with the help of the Shulay Stud.
We bred Jacala Morning Gold (Eldyr/Legend Arabesque) who is only 8 years old and has been BPS National Champion on 3 occasions and is enjoying his ridden work.
It is nice to see David and Sarah of the Sameon Stud, plus other studs continuing to breed good quality palominos and show them, as it is very unfortunate that in this day and age the palomino classes are lacking support and sometimes (hard hat on head job!!!) quality and confirmation.
Are any of you going to the British Palomino Championships in July????
Jackie

Hi Lynda
I must contact the AHS again sometime! Her breeder went to live in Spain & no contact info. I seem to remember the reply I got to my query that Moonlight Vision wasn't reg with them!! LOL She sold her dam to someone living in south Wales...I did have their details - but have mislaid them.
I used to belong to the BPS many years ago when I had a pally....occ look on their website & drool over the beautiful pallys! |

Hi guys
I am new to this so at the risk of sounding like a complete dork.... How do I "pm" someone? Does that mean personal message and do I do that via e-mail?
Happy riding Debbie

Hi guys Was a beginner when I first posted on this topic and didnt notice that we had moved on to a second page!!
So.... Jackie K.... I am sorry if I have made you feel old. It seems like yesterday but you are right it is over 20 years ago. How time flies.
I never got to see Zalaman but remember some lovely pictures of him back in the 80's in the Horse and Hound.
I did however go to visit Carol Banks and got to see Quadeha and also the last two broodmares that she had - my old mares mother Fayrelands Hawaiian Lady (cremello PB Saddlebred), and Maygold (chestnut AHS) who was the mother of Fayrelands Gold who I seem to remember was a successful race horse.
I got some lovely video footage of the day (which probably wont play on any of my camera's today!) including some of the last 2 year olds - one purebred out of Maygold and a gorgeous golden palomino who was a full sister to Fayrelands Dancing Magic. I wonder what happened to her - think she was Fayrelands Dancing Tiara.
Over the years I have managed to find about 8 full brothers and sisters to my old girl and all were little carbon copies of her and their owners all said they were a dream to break and to own. There was Hawaiian Lad (who I notice is still doing well in western), Hawaiian Sun, Hawaiian Star, Hawaiian Harvest, and Hawaiian Jazz. Do any of you own any of these golden beauties?
I remember seeing Jacala Morning Gold in the Palomino magazine as a youngster. I bet he is lovely now. Eldyr is my youngsters grandsire and I remember him when he was the chestnut arab on the Super Solvitax adverts!!! Now I am really showing my age.
I havent entered the BPS this year because have been concentrating on backing my youngster to bring her out under saddle next year (fingers crossed) but I will be going along to watch so might see some of you there.
Happy riding Debbie

This is Fayrelands Mountain Mayfly (Quadeha / Montana Princess) with one of her/our three cremello daughters in the background. She is 21 yrs old now and we are waiting for her to come in season to cover with our 2 yr old palomino colt. Jackie may remember her !

Hi JackieK , there was a lovely pally gelding for sale a while ago on some website called Roundhills Star Maker, Shulay Faberge X Shepley Tiara he`s a carbon copy of his sire, infact i thought this pic was of faberge ! Have you ever see him at shows he`s 7 yrs old ?
Roundhills Star maker
I saw Darren riding Jacala Morning Gold at the South west Palomino show , he was very well behaved both inhand & under saddle & looked super ! Here are a few pics i took of him ,sorry but the one of him getting the ridden supreme was blurred ! Ps , do you still have that dun mare by Colebridge Silver Phantom that i showed for you when she was a yearling ? Sarah

Sarahlock1 - What amazing horses! Shulay Faberge is my favourite stallion!
How on earth do they get their manes and tails so white? |

Indi ...Yes Faberge has so much presence & the most stunning head ! Palomino`s are a nightmare to keep clean , when i used to show them in Palomino classes they had long manes ,but i keep them pulled now , its so much easier! Their tails are definately the worst to get white ,there always seems to be that end bit that has a tinge to it, especially after a long winter ! Years ago someone told me to try Glo white just like you do for your nets Ha ha , Judith Poor Ginger , after a trip to the hairdressers she will need her name changed to Goldie !! ha ha Sarah X |

Hi Judith , ha ha Thats ironic , i just looked up Gingers pedigree & her GGGGG grandmother was called ..... GOLDIE ! ha ha
Unless you breed Palomino`s using Cremello X Chestnut , it is a bit hit & miss ! I must have been lucky as the first time i tried it i got a Palomino from Chestnut X Palomino parents !
Fantasy`s dam is a bay Arab who has had 13 Palomino foals to 3 different Cremello stallions , but last year after having 7 pally foals to Legend Ghost Moon she produced a dark dun filly ! I sent Fantasy to the Cremello stallion "Colebridge Silver Phantom" & got a Palomino filly , that same year a friend of mine sent her Palomino mare (whos 1/2 sister to Fantasy) to the same stallion & got a Palomino colt.
Then it gets better That year my friend Hazel Davis sent her mare (Fantasy`s full sister ) to the palomino stallion Shulay Faberge & she had a Cremello colt!
Hazel rang me up & called me a "Jammy Cow " ha ha
She couldn`t believe that Faberge & Royale had produced a cremello yet neither of ours had ,infact Diane`s mare had a palomino colt by that same stallion a few years before before !
Hazel`s Cremello colt "Moonhaze Silver Spiral" is at Rainbow Arabians in Denmark along with his sire & is making quite a name for himself as both a sire of Palomino`s & as a showjumper so his colour was to his advantage I have sent a video of him for you . www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kxt6iVqX1W0 |

Sarah - both come from pally breeders Rufus - Helperic Valentino R - http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/helperic+valentino+r was going to have been kept as a stallion ....if he'd been pally.....sadly he popped out bight red chestnut
Polly my Quarter Horse is sorrel & has apparently had pally babies - by a pally QH -before I bought her. Have just covered her with our Rameed (chestnut Arab) - so expect a chestnut I would like to put her back to a pally post next time.

Hi SarahW What a lovely picture of Fayrelands Mountain Mayfly. She is still a lovely colour.
Unfortunately my old lady Fayrelands Hawaiian Dawn "Fayre" has gone white with age. She is 24 now but still very beautiful and still rides out as if she were a 6 year old. Here is a picture of her when she was 6 and a recent one. Neither do her justice so I will try to get some action shots downloaded onto my computer.
I have regretted not breeding from her but I could never bring myself to stop riding her, and I knew that in trying to get a "clone" palomino filly, I was bound to get a chestnut colt! Having done the gelding thing many years ago and I am strictly a mare person.
It is lovely to see that there are still some Fayrelands horses out there. They all have such lovely temperaments and really move.
Now that I can do this piccie thing I am going to bore you all to death!
