Does anyone own any Roundhills prefix horses - PBAs ?
I own Roundhills Golden Ginger & shes quite a character!!

| Weren't they mostly Palominos? I seem to remeber some lovely ones years ago if I'm on the right lines. I think there was a Roundhills Golden Cavalier or something similar. |

Hi - Have had a couple (Roundhills Cream Rose and Roundhills Coral Tiara) and have a colt by Moonshine Vision - Jans Stallion. We sometimes show Jans horses for her - Jan Still breeds - on a slightly smaller scale but her horses are still doing well.
She has two in foal to Mareschal for this year. |

No she doesn't - just the white you can see in the photos!
I've not seen Moonshine Vision in the flesh or a photo - do you have one you could email me - being cheeky now! Jan sold her dam in foal - to a lady who then moved abroad - but Jan is on gingers certificate as her breeder - gets confusing! Unfortunatly the lady didn;t register her with the AHS as a PB - just as a PB American Saddlebred.

I think Sue Rich in Bristol has at least one Roundhills mare - Roundhills Desert Rhapsody springs to mind.

Tara - thanks - Ginger is very beautiful with her elegant long neck! Her coat is also metallic in the sun - stunning! Her winter coat is as fine as many Arabs summer coats - will never need to clip her! She just has an "interesting" character!!! |

Not sure but she is the dam of Oakleazefarm Czaro (by Czarus) that Sue has done endurance with -GH last year - as well as dressage, showing etc.

As Sarah says Jan Browne and her family are still successfully showing her palomino partbred saddlebreds. I saw a few at the BPS national championships in 2006 and they are in Palomino magazine regularly. Roundhills Maysong did well last year. Also take a look at the Treliver Stud website because they have some lovely pictures of a gorgeous 2007 palomino filly by Treliver Decanter (Warmblood) out of Roundhills Mayflower. If you look on www.allbreedpedigree.com you will see that Moonshine Vision has been a very busy boy cos there are dozens of horses by him on there.
I have a palomino filly Springtimer Fabulous ("Jazz") by Shulay Faberge out of Roundhills Autumn Glory (Moonshine Vision x Shepley Tiara). She is line bred to Zalaman, Mr. Sun Tan and Donax through Quadeha. Just breaking her in and she is lovely - a perfect girly version of her dad.
Also have her great aunt Fayrelands Hawaiian Dawn by Quadeha out of Fayrelands Hawaiian Lady (who originates from Goldmount Bourbon Genius and Goldmount Kathy Haines imported by Jan Browne in the 60s). "Fayre" has sold me on the saddlebred cross for life - had 18 years riding her without her so much as treading on my toe! A real push button ride. She loves showing, dressage, used to beat ponies against the clock in showjumping because she turned on a sixpence and perfect in every way.
I have photo pedigrees for both of my mares so I will try to send one to you Judith if you send me your e-mail address.

Judith, Just a thought, if your mare is registered Saddlebred, could you not ask then to send the covering cert back or a copy & ask the AHS to accept it as proof of PBA. Don't know what % yours is or the time allowance for AHS registry on Part breds. But, I had to do this with Rose, I found out that there was a covering cert lodged with one society and I wanted to register her in Sports Horse(another), so asked for it back, and it came, she was 5years old when I did this....just a thought as I said...Sue

Hi Sue - tried that not long after I bought her - the AHS were not very helpful & said she couldn't be reg as a PBA.....might try again! She has enough % to allow her to be reg as a PBA. Shes registered with the two UK Saddlebred soc as a PB Saddlebred - shes 56.25% Saddlebred.
Here she is with Nerys on board - taken a couple of days ago:
Nerys is doing some schooling work with her & sorting out a few problems. Who knows I might get to do endurance on her one day |

I have a gelding by Zalaman - Helperic Valentino R (Rufus) - hes now 13, 15.3hh & does endurance - hes bright chestnut - a failed palomino (his breeder breeds pallys) http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/helperic+valentino+r - hes a wonderful horse!
One of my friends has a brother to Zalaman - hes now in his 20s & is a retired endurance horse - Mariner of Neatheroaks.

Your photos are great and it is good to speak to someone who recognises this lovely breed.
It is a very very small world. I bought Fayre all those years ago from Kate Darby who offered me a free covering by Zalaman - opportunity missed there! Fayre had a foal in 1986 by Mariner of Netheroaks but it was a chestnut colt. Kate had taken her in exchange for a cremello mare which had a Netheroak prefix because her owner wanted to breed palominos. I seem to remember that Fayre's previous owner may have used the Helperic prefix - was she Bewdley based?
Although Fayre has never been a particularly good colour and has now turned pure white with age she is the most wonderful riding horse. She is 1/4 saddlebred 5/8 Arab and the buzz that I get from her action - floaty from the Arab but elevation from the Saddlebred -is irreplaceable.
I really panicked as she got older that I wouldnt get another one which is why I couldnt resist when I came across Jazz who looks just like a younger carbon copy. If she is even half as good as Fayre I will be happy and so far so good. I am hoping that I wont regret buying something with more saddlebred blood but palomino ones dont seem to come around these days. All the NSH's seem to be pinto now.
I will sort some photo's out and send them to you. If you have one of either Zalaman or Mariner of Netheroaks I would be grateful.

Yes - Rues breeder was Bewdley based if I remember rightly & her prefix was Helperic! Do you have any details on the colt by Mariner of Netheroaks....my friend would be delighted if you do!
Rue is 64.25% Arab, 12.5% Saddlebred - with TB & other thrown in for good measure! He's very saaddlebred & can happily trot at about 20mph for ages & would gait if I worked at it!! When we've done endurance & been trotting along at normal working speed - its always been fun (naughty me!) when another competitor on a big trotting Arab comes alongside & they are powering along....& I just click my tongue & Rue goes off into his Saddlebred trot & leaves them standing.....they just don't know what to make of my boy!!! My bit of devil comes out
But anyway - aren't we luck to have theses amazing horses!!!
I have a photo of Maz (Mariner of Netheroaks) & also Zalaaman....if you pm me we can get together & swap piccies & chat etc!

Hi Judith, I cant find some of the Part Breds in your Roundhills horse in the part bred register, possible leaving you with having to rely on the Manzala100%,Zalaman50%,Moonshine25%, and only 12.5% left, Do you know if AHS still take 12.5%...
I remember someone at Bewdley/ Shelsey that bred Palomino's, did they have Rocket & I also remember Mr Suntan & others from Shepley. Sue |

Sue - when I spoke to the AHS I seem to remember them saying they accept 12.5% for PB....if that wrong can someone correct me please
Any idea to find photos/onfo on the horses in bloodlines? Mr Suntan etc? |

You are right with the percentage needed for a Part-bred to be registered, (12.5%)and there is more than that in your Roundhills horse. The AHS should be able to over stamp a passport if the horse is registered with another breed society.
There is another way round this, but it's a long route and may be a bit envolved. You would have to get hold of the breeder of the horse and get a covering certificate for the dam.
