Big, big thanks must go to Jane and Malcolm Hickford of AJA for putting on such a lovely day for us aliners today, and to Bridie for organising it ! A wonderful collection of horses , and two lovely hosts! We were treated to a lovely display, the rain held off and the atmosphere was very warm and very friendly. Lovely to put some faces to names also. Donations also made to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Totally agree - lovely afternoon, thanks to Malcolm and Jane for their time and hospitality. Nice to be in Araby company out of season! Great to see happy Arab horses with lovely temperaments, happy to show off and happy to quietly greet their audience afterwards.
Thank you Bridie for organising it - and agree, it's nice to put faces to names! It's funny how you have images in your mind - and they are completely wrong!! |

Only disappointing thing for me was no one introduced themselves? Why? Perhaps this is why arab people get such a bad press, we cant even be bothered with each other? Shame. |

What was this? Was it advertised? I've long like the AJA horses and would have liked to go, if only I knew about it.

What a great pleasure it was to visit AJA Arabians yesterday - to be shown such beautiful horses at home by people who obviously treasure them.
Thank you Jane and Malcom for showing us your horses and making us all feel so welcome. If you think AJA horses are good in the showring you should see them at home. What happy relaxed horses they all are BUT boy do they enjoy the chance to show you what they can do.
Thanks must also go to Mandy and Sue for arranging this day - oh and putting up the "red arrows"

A truly wonderful day and a priviledge to be there. This was the first stud visit that began through Arabian Lines -Bridie posted if anyone would like to join with her in a visit somewhere. Lots of us said yes --- but with no-where to go! until Jane kindly posted and then offered to show us the beautiful horses at Aja Arabians - it was online for over six weeks, so you could have joined in.
I didn't know everyone - I admit I'm the world's worst at remembering online names and real names and faces and horses names - but met lots of old friends (whose online names I hadn't realised!) and new names and faces (but realised I knew their horses)but I approached lots of people, and lots of people spoke to me - so you only have to reach out Daz, I hope you enjoyed the day anyway. I certainly did.
And just wait for all those fabulous WH Justice babies! C x.

Hi Chris, I did reach out and was greeted with some very bemused looks I have to say. You said Hello so did Hazel. [:D ]Had to smile at Hazel slowly waving as she was driven up the drive - soooo funny. I had a super day with good friends. |

Hi big thanks to Mandy and Sue for starting this whole thing off, and to Jane and Malcolm for showing us their beautiful horses (big mover hope you don't want the same mare as me! ) oh to dream......Malcolm said even the whole jackpot wouldn't be enough and I have to say I don't blame him...beautiful in looks and even more so in personality...maybe if I hit the big time I could have her foal instead??!! As a one arab / non-show person I was a bit shy, didn't really know what to expect, and also on my own as my friend couldn't make it - although I did know a few people from the Endurance and local circuit - so sorry dazzler, but I did introduce myself and chat to most people along the way I think? sorry I missed you out! thanks again to all involved, it was a lovely afternoon..and I might even give the ridden showing a go one day (is 13 too old to be a novice?) not sure how Z will take to it mind you!

And I just want to add what impressed me most was the way those horses 'strutted their stuff' snorting and blowing and charging around, and then calmly standing (well, maybe the baby boys were not quite so calm ) and having their headcollars put back on ... If I did that to mine I'm not sure I'd catch her! So its clearly all in the training, and they seemed to be having great fun too! and they were all so happy and friendly in their stables, it was truly a pleasure to see.

Hi I too had a lovely day out, away from the winter grind! Many thanks to all concerned, Jayne and Malcolm and staff for all the prep involved and for welcoming us into their lovely home.
I also hoped there would be some kind of informal introduction for everyone to get to know each other, but assumed we had missed it as we were a little late! sorry! Perhaps we should have worn badges with our screen names on, ha ha! Anyway, you couldnt miss me.........the one with the silly bob hat! come and chat next time!! |

Thanks for the "THANKS" but really I didnt do anything.....only posted an idea and made a few calls, Jane & Malcolm did all the hard work. I enjoyed myself, what a treat to see such beautiful horses, and how calm and relaxed they all were even after showing off for us in that lovely arena.... those mares can certainly snort & blow....LOL. I did contact a few studs who were really horrified at the thought of having visitors in FEB... some suggested May. I was worried that Jane & Malcolm would feel they had to say yes to my cheeky request for us all to go nosing at their wonderful horses.....but they were the perfect hosts and made us all feel more than welcome, so from me a HUGE THANK YOU to them and the staff at AJA for a memorable day. DaZ....dont worry love there were people there that have spoken to me before and know who I am and DIDNT say hello.....its just folk!! dont let it spoil the day . There are a few AJA horses I will be looking out for in the show ring this year....... AND the bay colt can come and live in my tent Malcolm

Thanks to Malcolm and Jane for showing us their beautiful horses and to Mandy and Sue for organising the visit. Those red arrows were definitely a big help.
Having gone on my own I found it a bit intimidating introducing myself to people but those who I did speak to were very friendly. Everyone thought Eeyore was an old lady though

Have to agree with everyone, it was a wonderful Afternoon.
Malcolm & Jane have an absolutely stunning collection of mares (& Youngstock), - all very much "my type" of horse!
Like everyone has said, it was so nice to see them all come out & Strut their stuff - snorting, blowing and showing off their stunning movement, but then returning to calm & "live in your tent" arabs as soon as their headcollars were produced.
They should also be complemented on how relaxed "all" their horses were in their stables. - not one appeared stressed or unhappy - in any way.
It was a lovely afternoon & nice to chat to friends old & new!
Just a note thou - please dont go "snipeing" on here just because "everyone" didn't speak to "everyone" - i know there are people i didn't speak to - but beleive it or not even I can be "slightly shy" in public , and i am sure other people feel the same.
Like Kirsty said - "We" thought the intros had been done b4 we got there (yes we were late ). (guess who "forgot" there were going to be arrows, - didn't look for them and got lost! )
Perhaps next time we go somewhere we should all wear badges.

Just like to say from Malcolm and I, thanks for all the lovely comments you have written about our horses. We love to see them strut around just as much as you!
Good to put faces to names, but I do admit to not recognising Kirsty at first with your Peruvian hat on!! ha ha.
Horses all still here this morning, as we did have a lot of threats of them being missing by Sunday. Mandy thanks for organising the event, and keeping my dog warm! and to Sue for marking the route. Also thanks for the flowers and making my dusty kitchen smell nice.
