Very lovely German Vet came today to give our six dogs their yearly vaccinations. Got talking about horses as one does & she said she used to ride a friends Hafflinger x Arab mare back home in Barvaria & that that was a common cross & makes for a fantastic riding horse. Anyone know a Haffy/Arab cross - what they are like etc? they do sound rather nice!

Hi the haflo arabier as we call it in holland was "invented" by Mrs. Slierendrecht, who had the Crabbet stallion Silver Royal. I am not sure if he was the first sire she used on a Haffie, but she used his son Silver General quite a while for this cross. They look like Haflingers in colour, but are very araby in their type and character. We had one on the boarding stable I used to be when I was younger and without having the luxury of keeping the horses at home like I have now. If more info is needed i can see if I can find it?? Maybe I can find a picture of the ones I knew??!! Monique |

O yes I would love to see a picture - we used to own a very handsome haflinger gelding who we drove. He was so genuine and honest. |

Hi, Have to see if I have one myself or else my friend will have some of her gelding. And another friend had a mare called Tamara she was out of a haflinger and by a stallion bred by Mr. Houtappel from Rodania Stud. The stallion was Branco breeding Noran out of Chavali, doing this out of my head so correct me about the breeding if I am wrong, do not think so though. Have to go feed horses now. Monique |

Yes it is, that pic in the middle shows the two years old, they look so shaggy, but they was just coming home from the meadow.
The newborn was after a darkbrown arabian and turn out to be dark liver with flaxen mane and tail. A little bigger head as I am used with, but a lovely horse anyway. The chetsnut is a a Shagyaarabian.
I gave up this breeding, when I have my Cansersickness, so noone is left, but I still miss my old Haflinger mare, she was such a darling.

Gunni - lovely horses! Whats the temperament like - one of my friends has a Haffy mare & says shes got her "own" ideas about things & is strong willed! Also what have the ones you bred gone on to do?

Our Haflinger/Arabians was all very sweet.I lost contact with them, as we have to sell them very quick because of the circumstanses.
Only one of them I know of, she is a beloved ridingpony for a 13 years old girl, who has had her now in five years.
