Hi Karen,
I could not watch much of it and wish I had not seen any of it!
I can't stop thinking about it now, it really has upset me so much
There must be a more humane way of doing things, why are people so cruel?
To think I feel cruel having to keep mine in due to all this rain, in warm dry stables with a friend either side and talk grills, with the radio on and a pile of haylage,

Linda I was just thinking the same, I feel cruel because I can't let my girl out as our fields are waterlogged but she is the same as yours ~ well rugged, properly fed, lots of company and much going on in the yard ~ and it will only be for a short time hopefully. It is all relative isn't it?

That is deeply distressing. It never ceases to stun me just how inhumane people can be...it simply beggers belief. I hope the senate vote to ban this cruel practice. Those poor horses looked terrified, it is simply awful. |

A lot of people on the other site are debating to morales of slaughtering horses.
This is my reply....
Firstly I would just like to make it clear that I have not (to my knowledge) and will not eat horse meat, however there are people in this world that do, fair enough it is their right to do so but I choose not too. Most people will quite happilly feed horse to their pets as most dog/cat meet is horse flavoured with beef/lamb, pork etc. Look in the ingredients, it may not say horse meet but if it just says meat it will probably be horse. Anyway.............
Surely the issue is not WHY but HOW it is done?
There is no earthy reason at all for ALL slaughter animals not to be treated with dignity and of paramount importance is the manner in which the killing takes place.
This inhuman method, without even stunning the horses first is just plain disgusting and INHUMANE.
I believe we should concentrate on the first issue which is to put an immediate stop to inhumane slaughter methods. Then we can debate the issues of why or why not.
Don't you agree?

I agree Vera, at least if they were humanely killed, it would still be a waste but as long as they are not suffering. Its the method thats unacceptable more than anything else. |

Zoe,
It really will haunt you! its awful!!
I have been trying all day to reach anyone with any influence
EVERY country MUST have an RSPCA or similar!
Culling is one thing! the prior handling is another!
One man waits in the killer pit with a knife for a horse to enter and then stabs it in the back to severe the spinal cord!!
I cannot repeat what I would do to him given the chance!!
I think you can all guess what I would severe!!

Hi Vera,
I agree!
We know some animals are bred for slaughter, although heartbreaking for most of us!
To handle them in such away is UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!
I am so upset by the whole thing, I want to hang these men by their nuts! and that is just for starters they are lucky they don't live near me!

It's like watching a horror movie of the worst kind. How barbaric, i wish i hadn't watched it now but we should show the whole world what monsters these people are. Theres no way we can stop people from slaughtering animals for food, but i'm damm sure there must be a way of stopping them suffering like that. Any country that treats their animals in this way should be held accountable.
As for the sick b*****ds who actually do this job, i hope they rot in hell. |
