Tying-up springs to mind - might be sensible to get the Vet out to see him. What distance did you do? |

Why I mentioned Tying-up - one of my Arabs did a 50km graded ride last season - he was very fit & prepared as always - hes an intermendiate horse (I'm very careful too!) - but he tied-up at the vetting at the end & was seriously ill & the vet said we came very close to loosing him! He had to have many ltrs of fluid through a drip, numerous injections etc & had to stay at the venue over night & then many vet visits in the following days at home. He gave no cause for concern at all over the 50km - he did it easily as usual & was keen to work! Blood tests showed that he had a lot of muscle damage etc. He was off work after the ride in Oct & has now only just come back into work - thankfully he seems none the worse for the experience - although now I am going to be very wary about competing him again.
Don't leave anything to chance - blood test will show if your horse has tired-up - even mildly.
I hope that he hasn't - & its prob something else!
Let us know how he is.
Big hug to you both

I'd definitely get the vet straight out. Good luck to him. |
