Hi Suzanne, The only people interested in a clinic were you and Cassy!!From this forum. I put it on IH forum and no response? No one has heard of him over here. He is a great natural horseman. If you've got room for one more dvd I'd recommend his I have spoken to a few people I know in the Natural Horse world and they would like to see him, I'm just testing the water really. If people are interested they will buy the dvd, and then they would definatly want to see him!!.... and I can't believe he's single!! I'll have to act as body guard to him to keep all the young girls away! [;On a more serious note.... He is really focused and professional and so easy to understand. If he did come over it would be a great oppertunaty |

Hi Evie - just wondering how you got on with Lewis the other week? I too had him out this Saturday gone and we did a marathon session with shah who relaxed and got into it after convincing himself that the stranger wasn't dangerous, i thought he was going to explode the minute he spotted the hat
I'm now back to doing the umpteen exercises we've been left with to see if it really works for us. As shah is quite old it will take a little longer to see any benefits, but i'm patient... |

Hi, Tara and I had two lessons with Lewis now, and they've been very interesting. I too have lots of exercises to practice. I think some of it is working. When he came last week I asked him whether the mood I'm in and the way I'm feeling could be affecting Tara (as I've been feeling quite depressed and upset lately) and he said it would definitely affect her as she is a very sensitive horse (she has been picking up what is being asked of her in the sessions really quickly ). This was proved yesterday when I went out to Tara's field in the morning and was feeling pretty happy and she came straight over to me, saying 'hello mum', let me put her headcollar on and I did some exercises in the field with her, let her go, then she let me catch her again a few minutes later. Then I let her go again to show that not every time she gets caught she then gets ridden.
Later in the afternoon the YO asked me if I'd ride out with one of the girls who shares one of their horses. I went out to get Tara in and my mood had completely changed (I was feeling upset again and quite angry) and Tara ran off. In the end she had five of us trying to catch her, I was just laughing because I could tell she was having fun and she could tell mummy was upset. She is so clever. Eventually when she was bored of running around she came up to me
Lewis is coming again in a couple of weeks, I think it is well worth the money! |

Hi Evie, I'm so glad to hear things are going well.
We have had the most bizarre things happening this week after having Lewis out for a session last Saturday. As it's quite far for him to come we did an extra long session while he was there with both ground and ridden work, which was great. The day after Shah was a changed horse, we've never seen such a big change in just one time before, and we were really pleased about it.
Lewis did warn us that they may regress and guess what, just three days later Shah has regressed completely again. It's so odd we can't really believe it. I wonder if anyone else has had that happen when starting out with NH?? Or if it's because he had so much attention on Saturday and he just likes the attention?? Or is it just because he's old and just has too much bagage and never will change completely??
Anyway, we are keeping up the exercises, hopefully they will help in the long term. And yes, I will be booking another session with Lewis, but not for a few weeks as I can't afford it at the moment. But it was definitely worth the money, if just to see the changes. I wish Lewis lived closer to us, I'd like to have a session every week..... |

Hi Evie & Shah,
I'm so glad you both felt you benefitted from your sessions with Lewis. I was worried I'd recommend him & you wouldn't get on with him or something
I'm no expert, but as far as regressing goes, this is very common. The work you are doing is undoing a lifetime of learned behaviour, so it is normal for a horse to relapse to what it knows. It just takes lots and lots of patience, consistent practice & time to help them change. So keep up the good work & let us know how you get on |
