Apart from the obvious carrots/apples/turnip/bananas what other fruit and veg do you feed your horses. Want a good variety.
Thanks

Mine love pears, parsnips, the odd grape, orange and pineapple chunk (left over fruit salad), but they both hate sprouts with a passion. Bit like me. |

Apart from the above (except pineapple, never tried that) they love melon and watermelon, they usually get the rinds with whatever bits are left attached and gobble it all, they also love figs, there's a fig tree next to their paddock and whenever YO goes to eat a couple you can see them running as he usually throws them the skins. They would also eat peaches and prunes but I don't let them as I remember reading they are toxic for them (seeds are certainly poisonous if ever they should break or swallow them) They love chicory, makes their tongue blue!they like the wild one, too. They will eat lettuce and other salads. They like fennel, too, although Armos will only take a bite and leave the rest to Pasch. Armos will follow me everywhere if I have a slice of tomato pizza, does that count as veg? |

Strangely mine like pizza too! Forgot to add blackberries and all hedgerow berries but they pick them themselves! Not pizza or fruit but one of mine likes cold coffee! |

This has reminded me that I used to give my first horse swedes whole to play with and eat and he loved em and they were cheap back in the 70s. They don't all like em and now a small one is mega expensive but will give it a try. Blackberries from the hedge are a treat. |

Garnet loved pears (and ham sandwiches!) Sam likes a stalk of sprouts although I read the other day that brassicas are bad for horses. Red turned his nose up at the sprouts (which Sam ate) although I believe his dad is very fond of broccoli! |

Love the video. Shaheeraah stands on her hind legs and pulls the apples off the tree. As she pulls other apples fall and the rest scoop them up. None of the others have copied her and learnt to pick the apples off the tree.
Mine like carrot tops and cabbage leaves which I get free feom the market.

Chance can smell mango a mile off, and lordy me does she like it. She loves grapes, banana, actally, I have never known her turn her nose up at anything. I even caught her stealing a tuna sandwich once. It didnt even touch the sides! I panicked at the thought of her digestive system shutting down, as thats generally our luck, but she was fine! They boys are far more fussy though, and one of them doesnt even like carrots!! |
