Darli and I ventured to Dorset County at the beginning of September for the senior horse in hand class. First time either of us have been out for years - we really enjoyed ourselves. This is the mare that slipped in the stables, broke my leg and dislocated my ankle and I have had quite a uphill struggle with myself when handling her. My farrier even got her out of her stable the first time she needed doing once back under my care as I was really wimpy and he felt sorry for me. Bless her she must realise how nervous I was bathing her - she stood on the yard on her own without worrying while I tried to remember how to bath a horse. She even got straight on the trailer (unheard of). We didn't win. Fourth out of four but she behaved, I didn't fall over and we weren't 't a disgrace. The judge was very complementary about her and pointed out a couple of things I need to do better.
I have a couple of thank you's - firstly to the people by the ringside who were concerned we had missed the arab classes and then said we should have entered as she doesn't look her age. My daughter for taking me on a rare weekend off from dressage. And last but in no way least Madeleine from Arabian Emporium who rushed through a back strap when I suddenly remembered Darli doesn't do chains, even though she was off to BACS and had packed all her stock and had a problem with one of her dogs. She managed to make one and get it to me in time and still hasn't invoiced me. Many many thanks Madeleine and I shall be ordering a leather one for next season.
Anyhow here are the photos of Darli

She's absolutely beautiful and you should certainly show her in everything she's eligible for! So pleased you are back in action - I know how you feel; I was at Addington last Saturday after being too ill to go since 2009! There is certainly no disgrace in being 4/4 at a big show and it's not your fault if the others didn't turn up! Well done to you both! |

She is lovely; well done for getting it back together so you were able to do it. Someone has to bve last and there will be plenty of people at the ring side who would have changed the placings; not everyone agrees with the judge's decision. Sometimes there are really obvious placings and the best horses stand out but other times it is very difficult to decide and even the judge might change the placing on a different day.
