Hi Is anyone on here doing the Devils Dyke ride on Sunday?

I'd planned to go with a friend but she can no longer make it, and I'm just not sure about doing it by myself...?

For those of you who have ridden this ride before, any recommendations please? We hack out all the time by ourselves so that's no worries but I'm just not sure...

Thanks,
Lauren

Hi, I'm stuck offshore working so I am missing it this year , but I did the 30km there last year. I did it mostly by myself, but caught up with two other riders towards the end. It has some steep ascents and descents in places (well it is at Devil's Dyke ), and a number of gates, some of them are not nice ones, but it is well worth doing. Can you contact the ride organiser and try and find someone to ride with?

Here are some old threads which give you more info:-

Well we finally made it to Devil's Dyke ride after two previous attempts in 2011 and 2012 when we were thwarted by injuries. What a fab ride!Just wanted to say a big thank you to Jane and her merry band of helpers. Great way to end our season galloping over the Downs!
32k (Only our 3rd time out with EGB this year.). Missed a grade 1 by 1 heartbeat but Laddie was still SO excited at the end vetting.

Well done Sandy! Did you see Trilby? I don't know how she did yet.

Hi Sandy, I worked it out for myself when I checked out the ride photos, so phoned home. Charlie was vetted out and couldn't start - 4 trot ups (so not very obvious). Looks like the same leg as last year, Trilby is pretty devastated. Will be getting the vet back.

I am so very sorry. I do hope Charlie will be OK. I am taking Laddie for his "murmur" check up next week to see if we can continue next season. He has been going so very well but we shall have to see.Fingersd and toes all crossed. Meanwhile here we are Sunday

What a fantastic photo!
What bit are you using? Is it a Myler combi? Not that I'm obsessed by bits at the moment!!!

I use a Myler low port comfort snaffle bit for every day.

In the photo I am using the same type of bit in a Myler combination bridle. This has long shanks. A kind bit provided you have soft hands.
