Misshana what do you class as deliberate neglect? health/age/money does not explain what happened here. this has been a long time coming. The last time I saw Dorian was when I called to that yard to buy a bridle for Az. He was standing in a stable and looked about 15.2hh as he was perched on a muck heap. he had sores all the way down his face. I am only prepared to state what I have seen myself, but I am sure that the rest will be in the public domain soon. It won't come from me I can assure you, but once something gets into the press it is hard to close the door

Without knowing any of the detail, my only hope is that the ponies didn't go from the frying pan into the fire - selling at those low prices at auction.(I know a number went to good homes, but what about the others?)

I agree Callisto, but the owner publicised the sale as much as she could and I am very sure she was shocked at those prices too. Many have been sold since. I am quite sure that there was a place of safety ready for every one of those ponies rather than them be sold like that. |

There have been rumours abour the condition of this person's horses for YEARS. I had a friend who lent her a purebred mare - the mare came back in such a state, physical AND mental that they had no option but to have her put down, as she would have had no quality of life. I am glad that action has finally been taken and that she won't be able to pull the wool over anyone else's eyes.

Misshana, I too remember Darkhorse Dorian - I used to love the LEMAHS shows. How sad that it has come to this. |

Garnet, yes such a shame the Group folded. they were fantastic shows. Arena UK and Hillhouse were wonderful venues. |

Quite a few of these ponies have gone to knowledgeable people who are used to the breed. They are being started properly, wormed and I am sure will be looking for homes when they are ready. Things ARE looking up for them now I am sure. One lady has gone round the dealers and bought a few to make sure they don't end up in bad homes. Obviously the dealers made a profit on them, but I take my hat off to anyone who is giving these ponies time and attention. It is terrible that this has happened. They are, however lovely ponies - not in the dire state they were in last winter and there were certainly a few stunners go through the ring at York. If I had a small child I would not hesitate to track down one of these ponies. |
