I have a saddle for sale on Preloved only for a few hundred quid, a girl messaged me saying she wanted some pictures and that she would send me the money via paypal and wants to pick it up today, why would you want to pay by paypal if you were collecting the item? I have told her I only want cash if she wants it today!
Whats the chances of her turning up
Thing is I sell quite a bit on Preloved and people always try to bid you down, and with saddles they ask everything even those who have picked them up from me want the inns and outs before coming down.

It's possible that she is funding her paypal purchase via credit card, a method you would not be able to accept personally I assume? If she did pay via paypal then you would have to ensure it was in your account (obviously), before she took the saddle. |

I suppose she could be paying by card, its the briefness of all her messages that does not ring true to me. |

I agree, I wouldn't let her take the saddle until it is paid for. Have you tried advertising it here?

Paypal is not 100% safe, payments can be reversed in the favour of the buyer very easily - all they have to do is raise a dispute and your money is retained and held until resolution and you will either have a big waste of time trying to get your saddle back or they will try to get loads of money knocked off the price for spurious reasons. Also if you look at paypal terms I think you will find you are only protected as a seller if you post the item to the registered address of the buyer, collection nullifies this protection. |

Don't hand it over until you have cash in your hand or money in your account and cleared. There are some unscrupulous people about! |

ive had this also and like judith said they take your item then if it doesnt fit their horse etc they can get their money back through paypal by saying not as described etc paypal always seems to favour the buyer so i like you would only accept cash on collection just not worth taking the chance x |

cash on collection, as someone has already said if paid by paypal you must post it recorded delivery to the address on the paypal account, it could be a scam, where they pay using someone elses Paypal account, come and collect the saddle, and you loose the saddle as the person then files a dispute as they didnt buy it. |
