Just wondered if anyone uses a Mattes sheepskin numnah? If so do the sizes come up big or are they standard. They made the perfect numnah for the various problems I have with sensitive skin on my lad. It's half sheepskin, high wither the panels on the side are just cotton but the whole thing is rolled edged in sheepskin which is perfect as any form of binding rubs him. The only size I can find is cob and all other numnahs I have are large although some are slightly too large, my saddle is 17.5" and GP. I presume as the only one I can find is cob it may have been discontinued! Thanks in advance for any help.

Can't comment on the Mattes as haven't used one. We use Le Mieux which sound like the same thing and we also have a Rambo one which is half sheepskin lined with rolled sheepskin edge. The Rambo was quite reasonable from a good website I use a lot. Pm me if you want the name. |

I've got a couple of Mattes sheepskin numnahs which I purchased several years ago. Excellent quality and still in great condition despite being well used. Mine are size large and all my saddles are 17". I'd say they are true to size. I also use Griffen Nuumed and the Mattes are the same size. |

I used a Griffin Nuumed large size with just sheepskin bound around the edges. It was on my 17.5 inch GP saddle. |

That's the numnah I'm using at the moment Arabianrio, brilliant item but it makes him sweat terribly and I don't feel I have much contact with his sides. The Mattes one is the same but only cotton on the sides and all edged in sheepskin.I use the large size but is slightly big, I am thinking the Mattes one will be too small, I will try to source a large one, may be a struggle as I don't think they are made any more. |

er..mine was also all cotton with only sheepskin at the edges. Martha, thanks for the compliment...I think he is handsome too (maybe one reason why he was used as a stallion till he was 5. He has the most laid back temperament which is great at rides. (I am also very biased) |
