I have had Aerborn rugs for years as they have fitted my lot well, and I could buy them direct from the factory. I just saw some new Aerborn rugs at a good price on ebay and thought I would 'stock up' for when next needed - I realised these may not be the same as the company has changed hands, but thought I would give them a try.
Anyway, I was very disappointed in the chest fastenings - no buckles or clips, just straps that go through a loop and velcro down under a velcro flap. May work for thick horses but my boys would have that figured out and opened in 30 seconds flat!
So now I don't know whether to send them back (being that the next best option is about £20 each dearer, plus the cost of sending them back), or whether to keep them, buy some strap sets off ebay and sew those on instead?

You could recycle, as your old ones are no longer any use cut the buckles off and put them on the new ones. Mary |

Well, the old ones are still good - the new ones are for future use. I operate on a very tight budget, but for once had the money to get some new rugs to store against the day they are needed...

I should add your own straps - it must be cheaper than sending them back, as long as the rugs look ok apart from that. If you have doubts about their quality then I would bite the bullet and return them - when rug companies change hands the new versions can be very disappointing (i.e. poorer fit/not as waterproof).

I love those fastenings, I have a couple of rugs with them and none have ever come undone, why not give them a try and if they dont work then look at changing the fronts? |
