Well we have Rose Alba that goes show-jumping, Shahir Neesaan (Bertie) that is learning x-country and now we have Psyrios Contender MWA (connor) doing dressage
Today, was his first time out ridden in public. All I wanted was for him to behave in public and perform reasonably well.
Because he is entire, the organisers allowed us to warm him up on their gallops if their outdoor warm-up arena was congested - boy did he have fun!!
He then went into the warm-up arena where his manners were impeccable among the other horses (thats my boy)
Cara ( my dressage trainer) rode him for me. He performed beautifully in his Intro test with some lovely comments from the judge. 23 in the class and I was thrilled when he was placed 4th with a score of 65.2%
What a bonus for us as all, as all I wanted was for him to perform reasonably well on his first outing.
He then went in to do his Prelim test (this is the start of the test): http://youtu.be/nvuAK7HRmAs
I personally didn't think he went as well, especially in his canter work but it was a brilliant start to his first time out in public.
Waited for our test sheets to be returned & was gob-smacked when he was announced as 3rd with a score of 66%
One of the judges comments was 'an attractive horse who should get high marks when he's more relaxed and lets go through the back and neck' and another comment was 'lots to like - just needs to grow up'.
so proud of our young boy - what a start to his ridden career

Well done Connor looks fantastic. I was very taken with him when I saw him at Raymonds. Good luck with him, I am sure he will continue to do well, he's a super horse. |

Well done Connor and everyone else involved.
Goodness, he looks nothing like the horse you bought, his overall appearance is wonderful

Thank you for the lovely comments - it was a real bonus for us that he was also placed in his classes.
We videoed ALL of his Intro class, so once I've put it to music, I'll post it for you to watch. (And bore you all even more!!!)
Can hardly believe we've only had him 5 1/2 months? I still want to build a lot more muscle up on him ,especially in his hind quarters, but lots of hacking out up the hills is working superbly

Very well done, he is lovely.
My only attempt at dressage as part of a one day event with Lanta (who died many years ago aged 31) was "A very spooky round quietly ridden!!! He just wasn't cut out for dressage.
