I have been looking for a new puppy since we very sadly lost our beautiful collie 6 weeks ago... Admittedly, I keep swaying from wanting one sooner rather than later, to not wanting one at all. However, as I was searching the net the other day I saw a beautiful little tri coloured Cavalier pup for sale. The add didn't say much but to email for details... So I emailed asking lots of info about pup, ie health, if KC reg, age etc etc
I got this really really strange reply:-
Hiya, Thanks for the email regarding my adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies ready to meet their new homes.I have got one male and one female left. They are 11weeks 5days of age.I called them Daisy and Dixon (female and male respectively).I am given each out for £260 with delivery inclusive. They are still available for adoption to any pet loving family that will show them lots of love and affection. They are very well socialized with kids and other home pets. I can assure you this puppy will be a perfect addition to your family. They are in possession of all documents like the veterinarian's certificate, they have received all vaccines, very beautiful, full of suspense, love, that once they get into your house you will never want them to leave.
Reason for given them out for sale is that I have just been promoted at my job site that brought me all the way to Dundee. So i have just realized that i have not got much time to care for these babies .I go to work in the morning and only come home by 9pm at night time.So i have decided to give let them go into any family that will promise to give them love, affection and a place they can be treated like Angels. They come alongside a 2 years health guarantee Certificate. These puppies has the following characteristics:
Gender: Female and Male What's included: Registered (KC, etc. ..) all current vaccines, veterinarian examination, health certificate, Health guarantee, Travel crate Eat 2 times per day and a decline in the afternoon (drinking milk). has a 2 year health guarantee. has a chip (in case of loss or theft) has a passport and travel permit, albums of birth.
I will love to get some information from you if you don't mind.Please kindly answer our question below;
Do you have experience with dogs, especially Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Puppies? Are you sure you can well look after this beautiful creature? 1: Do you have children? 2: Do not have a big yard that they can play around? 3: Have you got a vet? 4: Where about are u? 5: Are you interested in the male or female?
I will also like to know how the new home for this puppy looks like.I will be happy if you speak a little 'more of your family, and also a photo of your family, so that i can have a better knowledge about the new home for these puppies. Attached to this email are the recent pictures of Blake and Jake.I hope you will love them. You can as well call me on 07055177199 for confirmation.Waiting for your reply asap.
..... Anyone else think this maybe a scam with an extremely high call charge??.... The original add had 3 young puppies on it...

Definitely sounds odd.
When they say 'yard' it sounds quite an American expression? A 'decline ' in the afternoon? How can they guarantee its health for 2 years?
I would avoid it.

Dodgy as....! Who the heck are Blake and Jake? I thought the pups were Daisy and Dixon. They are way too cheap for pedigree puppies who include all the health checks vaccinations etc. that they say are included and as Rosie said you cannot guarantee a dogs health for 2 years. I don't think you could get a passport for a pup of that age as they have to have had all their vaccinations including rabies. Apart from the dodgy sounding wording etc. the thing that rang the most alarm bells for me was 'delivery included', I bet they will ask for the payment for the puppy up front and you will NEVER see a puppy. How convenient that they live in Scotland, I'm willing to bet that you don't. Perhaps you could invent a 'friend' who lives nearby who would like to visit the pups, see what their reply to that is |

Exactly... Who is Blake and Jake!! Lol
There were photos attached but my phone wouldn't upload them... Dare to think what they were about!
Well I certainly won't be calling or emailing back... I was thinking it was another of these foreign scams where people get you to call the number at £50 a minute or something...
Some people eh??!! |

Do you want a border collie delly b? The lady I bought Poppy from has same collie pups and I have a young female red merle to rehome.
This advert definately sounds foreign if not dodgy. very similar to some of the too good to be true horse adverts I have come across that were scams of somne type. If not a premium charge number it could be send the money first and dog never arrives. That is why you should never get a delivered pup!! You obviously want to see the mother anyway. |

Avoid it at all cost - this is exactly what happened when we were looking for a Gordon Setter. He had one male, one female had to sell because his wife had been killed in a road accident and he had to relocate to ... Dundee.
What he'll do is press and press you to take collection and he wants payment details off you for the courier. If you push hard enough, he'll give you false courier details - I got details and phoned the courier and they didn't know anything about it and didn't transport animals.
If you say you'll go and pick it up (like I did because I work in Scotland), he'll make arrangements and then literally hours before, he'll give you a load of codswallop about having to go to Belfast and he's taken the puppies with him. Again, I'd sensed a scam and asked him which hotel because a friend of mine in Belfast could pick the puppy up for me. He said the Ramada - I phoned them and they didn't have him registered and nor do they take dogs.
It all got very nasty and I started getting very threatening e-mails from this chap and then another person claiming to be sitting next to the scammer in an internet cafe in Nigeria. In the end, the chap started impersonating the FBI!
Even when I'd reported this guy, he kept threatening. The phone number, the address he'll give you and the e-mail address are all phoney.
Find a registered breeder - honestly, it's worth it in the long run. And it's how we found the magnificent Sybil Setter Dog.
Good luck x |

Understood delly-b. There will always be collies pups somewhere when you are ready.
The dragon Driving website is where my friend's pups are advertised Garnet. That is where i found my beautiful Poppy. But there are a lot of worrying ads on there for dogs and horses. |

Well I have searched the Dragon Driving site and other sites mentioned and can only thank you all for that. I am still really tempted with another collie. I love the breed dearly, however, I have several "issues" that are putting me off having another one at the moment.
Although I would give the earth to have Fin back, he was a typical Collie.... he loved and was totally loyal to his immediate family, but I couldnt trust him with many people. He had friends of mine he loved, though others I would deffinately keep him away from. I also have 2 boys who bring their friends round constantly, and he would get quite nippy with some of them. I know I can not guarantee what a puppy could turn out like either and have considered rescue collies. But I have 3 cats also, one of which is a timid ragdoll.. and dont think he would take to an older dog either...
So, all things considered, a friend has put me in touch with a breeder of Cavaliers (who is also known in the Arabian world), so I am keeping everything crossed for good news following a recent mating.... my mum is also happy to look after a smaller dog when we go on holiday (we havnt had a "proper" holiday in 3 years as I refused to put Fin in a kennel, so thats a bonus!! )... giddy now, watch this space!! ...... |

There was someone who bred Cavalier Spaniels in the Arabian world but I can't remember her name !!!! We always used to see each other at show back in the 90's and she used some of my Ff names for her dogs. They were really gorgeous pooches......I'll remember her name just give me time !!! I've always had collies but made a switch to Labs after I lost one of my girls, Poppy.....it broke my heart and I just couldn't face another :( |

Def a scam
Delyth - same thing, but after lost my lab earlier this year, couldn't bare to have another, so now have a large munsterlander pup lying on the sofa next to me.
Other thing was the 2 feeds a day at 11 weeks - Storm, our LM, may be bigger, but at 14 weeks is still on 4 feeds a day until after New Year? |

Aww im sorry to hear about Fin I remember seeing a pic of him on here as a little pup ! Last Christmas I had a Sable Welsh Sheepdog X Border Collie bought for me by my daughter & OH after my old red & while collie died . Apparently the Welsh Sheepdogs are much more laid back than Border Collies & not so focused on chasing stock & Taff has definately taken after his Welsh Dad & never botherers with my horses! Infact he is so good that i`ve started taking him to work with me (I am a Homecare assistant ) My clients all love to see him & he sits by the front door when he sees me in my works uniform waiting to go to work They all get a kiss & a cuddle off him & it really makes their day , he absolutely loves children too & hangs over our garden wall when they are on their way home from school needless to say they all stop & say hello to him ! I hope you find another dog soon & a Very Happy 2012 to you
Here is Taff
And here is a very conceited Taff after a dog show!
