Congratulations to Judy Phillips whose wonderful Arab mare Kamillah (SE by Imperial Kamill) passed the NaStA assessment with a Grade1! She is only seven and a diminutive 14.2hh and did 3' show jumping and Cross Country, 4' loose jumping, dressage, judged on her conformation and temperament and a full vetting. What a star - she is the first pure bred Arab mare to have achieved this.
Edited to correct Kammilah's name (I just know her as Kitty!!)

Posting these photos for Judy with her notes:
Kamillah gr m 2004 by Imperial Kamilll out of Kateefah by Kerim Shah, Straight Egyptian. Judy says she is “thrice thrilled with her performance and delighted it is over. Kamillah is now home with her head down in the field!” 1 Novice test - ridden by Cindy Sims BE trainer
2 Guest rider - Anthony Clark, eventer
3 AHS judging - judges Joanne Lowe, Diana Whittome, Lynne Lidbury
4 Loose jumping - 4'?
5 Show jumping - the last, ridden by Zani Fiddes, a third year Hartpury College Academy student
6 The gallop home
7 Immediate pulse rate - not exactly puffed! 115bpm at end of gallop, rider asked to remain in saddle. 60bpm 5 minutes later

Thank you all for your good wishes and thanks to Rhoni for putting up the photos - I did not intend them to be so large! Apols for that!
Just to add that Kamillah got 136.79 points out of 200 and got a Grade 1 (Grade 1 Elite starts at 140 points!) However, she is the second highest placed Pure Bred Arab on the list, (Galerito born 1982 went Grade 1 Elite in 1993) 26th in the rankings and 5th in the Grade 1s. Some Anglo/Part Bred stallions are higher - Persiflage, Olympus Hale Bop, All That Jazz.
Kamillah went to Cindy Sims, BE trainer, near Andover who adores her and who did the ridden test. Zani Fiddes, the lovely 'gung ho' young event rider has quite taken to Arabs and rode her with great competence and maturity and seemingly no nerves - unlike me!
So, those of you that wonder - DO try your Arabs at jumping but start slowly and build up their confidence. we had some wonderful gridwork lessons (me, too) with Pat Burgess and I know that Cindy started the cross county fences with lunging over them. Kamillah now goes through water, and will jump in and out of it, does trakehners, ditches, steps up and down etc etc.
I am hoping it is now my turn to ride her! Judy |

It's fantastic to hear of your wonderful achievement. Congratulations.
We've also got a Kamilll son who is very talented under saddle - he just lacks a rider

This is awesome well done! What an achievement! This is the level that all top ridden Arabians should aspire to.
I can also vouch for Cindy Simms, she has trained two of my horses who are with Genevieve and Georgina Rees;- Mukhtar Ibn Eternity who is off to HOYS with Cindy this year, and my young mare HS Mahalia who will be out in the novice classes next year |

Many congratulations Judy, what a fantastic achievement. And such a versatile mare, it was fabulous to see her at Malvern in the parade with Judy riding her 'aside', they looked lovely.

In foal? Not yet! She has a career and I would like the chance to enjoy her as a lovely riding horse. Loves hacking out, loves her jumping and it very competitive. I'll keep her going through the winter - some dressage, might try hunting, Zani might do some BSJA then we will see what beckons next season - more eventing? endurance? No foal until I'm 'past it'!
