Snapped this shot of out chestnut Arab filly foal. She has an Arabic name pending with the AHS .......BUT.............
Anyone that follows Laura on FB will no doubt have glimpsed "Miss Ginger Knickers" already She's a hoot!
Be careful what you call your babies, it will more than likely stick
Anyone got any crazy names to share?

When Zhaazeer arrived here at only 6 months old he could hardly see over the stable door so he got nicknamed "Shorty". Now he's 15hh in his bare feet but the name has stuck
The folk down the road from us had a foal and couldn't decide on a proper name. "Foalie" is now 25 years old......... |

Our somewhat elderly ex polo pony who is named El Chano is affectionately known as Charlie Farns Barns. I have no idea why but he got called it one day and it stuck. Of course it has come to pass that we have shortened it now to Farns Barns!!!!! Poor boy. Not that he cares as long as there is plenty of food he's happy! |

Our old Lucy Locket has always been called Little Pooh Pony by my son - the young Dartmoor Littledart Japonica has always been Baby B - Littledart Larissa is Lardarse - Littledart Venessa is either Little Sodbury - or Baby Babe - and we are yet to name the new filly - so I already feel sorry for her.
My GSD Freya is usually called Frippen Frup and the fat tortoishell cat Tao is Fat May. |

lol! Love the nickname - she is a stunning filly.
I have a thing about rhyming the names...usually making some food connection.
Ettie was Ettie Spaghetti Ella is Ella Paella Miska is Miskaponi Enys is Enys the Menace (who has lived up to his name, even though I didn't know he was one when I gave him the nickname!) |

My stallion TU Champion has been mushroom for years... my sister whos english isnt great couldnt say his name when he came as a weanling so called him champignon... he is also Champ, Champen, little brother, big brother, baby or fat boy never slim... all depending of what mood Im in or who Im talking to... in Denmark we say " a loved child has many names" ....he wouldnt care what I call him though he would still come running.
Have called a foal poo poo but had to stop as it started neighing every time I said it.
My current youngsters are: Little Kira: ugly child or ugly for short, stuck with her since birth as she has typical chestnut piggy eyes back then.
Little Knight: naugthy child or knighty, he wants to be center of attention all the time so pushes the others away to get his cuddles.
Little Palma: stroppy child, she was snorting and biting quite a bit at only a couple of days old when she didnt get things her way. |

"Fortynine" .....My late husband used this term of endearment for my lovely first horse Roo - a Thoroughbred x Connemara (quite a few years ago now)but I carried on using this nickname for my lovely Arabian Rio (also sadly gone)and now my gorgeous Arabian boy El Chenz. Somehow in the early evening "come on in 49 your time is up " always brings a little lump in my throat and happy memories when I say it! |

I once had an ex boyf ask me why I could just say a person/animals name. Why it always had a pet name attached. I cant help it. The dogs were Holly doodle day and Heidi ho. Cat was Norry dorry (norris). Molly wolly and tilly tops (matilda) the guinea pigs. Velviekins, Stormin normin (or monster). Think the only one was Monty, he was only shortened to Monts. My sis is suzy wong wang way, my bruv is stevie wonder. Ive got a mate I call pooh (andy pandy pooh), another called Eeewhan (Ewan) and then theres Po po (paul). Honestly, he did have a point. I dont think Im right. lol |

One of my dogs is Brooke. Like most of you, I often called her puppy when a baby. This changed to PUPPA, and I still call her that.
Honey is Bunny Shanaara is Laa Laa Meena was Nee No (Love you baby)
Gracie, my granddaughter is Fairy, but I was really put in my place recently when she replied.... not Fairy, Sweetheart!!!!! She,s three at the end of November.
Keep them coming, its great to know that this sort of thing is 'Normal' |

These made me chuckle! I'm terrible at names, as I refuse to think of them before they are born (tempting fate) and then it takes me about a month to choose their proper name...so stable names have a habit of sticking. These (believe it or not) are the names of my very beautiful arab babies...
Our first homebred is names 'Bugs' (he started off as Dude, then this turned to Doodle-Bugs and finally Bugs...poor chap!).
I then had 'Mini' (as she's the split of her mum...a mini-me)...looking like she'll be pushing 15.3hh+
Then 'Wonks' who is a beautiful filly, with the straightest legs your'd ever see...but she came out with her front legs crossed...so it stuck as she was the 'wonky foal'.
And finally we have "Wobbles" who couldn't quite get the hang of her lovely long back legs for the first couple of days....
I really really must try harder to give them better stable names next year
