So im not sure if i mentioned before, but in February we had a huge 24" snowfall that hung around for weeks, it eventually took its toll and brought in the roof on our indoor arena. Thankfully no one was in there at the time! Anyway after months and months of to'ing and fro'ing and money grabbing from the landlord my barn manager leases it from, he told us all to leave!! I was kind of happy since i have hardly been able to ride due to a ton of rain, and flooded outdoor arena!! So on wednesday my barn manager trailered all our horses to our new barn. Im so happy were all staying together and now we have a beautiful barn with top notch indoor with mirrors on the walls!! I almost couldnt be there for the move, but as luck would have it i managed to wangle a couple of hours off, it took us an hour to load Pats best friend Presley (another rescue Arabian), as he didnt like a crack in the rubber floor mat in the trailer. Wish we'd realised sooner, woild have saved a lot of fussing on his part, lol, but anyway, we had Pat switch sides since hes an awesome loader, and then Presley went in just fine. The barn is about 5 miles down the road from the old barn, so it was a short, uneventful trip. When we got there, we let the horses let off some steam and roll in the indoor, and then took them out to in investigate the field :) They seemed happy, if a little more alert, right away. Got a message from barn manager this morning saying everyone had a peaceful night and seemed settled this morning. Im so happy it all went smoothly and i got to be there to see Pat settle into his new home! I have a rare weekend off this weekend, so i will be taking lots of pics and taking pat to check out the private road we now have to ride down - it should be fun since we never rode away from the old barn! Im so looking forward to our upcoming adventures, its gonna be an awesome summer!! :) If you read all of that, thank you, I didnt mean to go on, im just so relieved and excited! LOL :) will post some pics at the weekend!

Thanks everyone Pat has settled in great, i spent the day with him today, we rode in the indoor, got over walking past the spoky corners and across the beam of sunlight shining in lmao! Later we went out for a walk (in hand not riding) down the road, away from the barn which was interesting :) Here are some pics! yay! lol
Main barn
Stables

In the round pen, full of grass, i can see not much work is going to get done in there!

Thanks Sandy, yeah im used to little stable yards with all the horses facing out around it, not these big indoor barns lol. This one is in much better shape than the prev one, and although it doesnt have every facility we had before, its got a lovely atmosphere and we can ride out and have a great indoor so all is good. I have to say ive never ridden Pat out of the barn - when i first got him he was a bit mental and we had a hard time getting it together lol, then i was concentrating on schooling him/taehing manners in the indoor and outdoor arena, and our barn was on a really busy main road so no riding out there. I never dared put him in the trailer for a trail ride as he hates leaving his friend and i was a coward! But now we can just ride straight out of the barn, will take him for a couple more walks before i try riding as hes a much bigger wuss when im on him lol, but i reallty want to get him riding away from the place alone. Thats our challenge for the summer! But now we have a quiet lane |
